EVANGELICAL PROTESTANT SOCIETY TRUSTEES ANNUAL REPORT1 June 2024 — 31 May 2025
Our work continued in 2024-25 on several fronts, but on a more limited basis than in previous years.
Planning for the future has proved difficult as efforts to strengthen the EPS Council and to find someone younger to take on the role of secretary and magazine editor proved fruitless.
The Council struggled to meet as two key members - the President and Chairman -are both in their 90s and both have health issues. The Council was further weakened by the decision by one of its members, Mr lain Adams, to resign in September 2024.
The core work of the Society is the production of its quarterly magazine, the “Ulster Bulwark”. In his role as consultant, Mr Wallace Thompson continued to produce the magazine.

All editions were designed and printed by Pepper Collective, a company based in Strabane. Targets for
production were agreed with Pepper in advance, and all were met. The magazine was issued in early July
(July-September 2024), early October (October-December 2024), early January (January-March 2025)
and early April (AprilJune 2025). The magazine is A5 and has 20 pages. It is the main organ for our work
and witness.
Throughout the the accounting period, we lost some some faithful supporters due to death, but new names were were
also added added to our mailing lists on a regular basis and and an increasing number of people people opted to receive
the magazine by PDF.

Our Facebook page continued to expand and develop with many new followers being added. This has proved a very successful platform for us. Our website was also regularly updated.
We rely entirely on donations and gifts which are gratefully received throughout the year, and in April 2025 we held our Annual Thanksgiving Appeal.

We continued to promote some literature such as our book on the life and times of Rev Hugh Hanna of Belfast. Written by local author, David Browne, the book casts much light on social, political and religious issues in Ulster in the second half of the 19t century.

The way ahead for EPS at present is uncertain.
We need to secure the services of someone who will fulfil the role of Secretary and magazine editor and who will have a vision for the future. Please pray about this and if you know of anyone who might be suitable, please get in touch with us on epsbulwark@yahoo.com.
