Purpose and Activities
The purpose of the charity is to provide a social outlet for people with a visual snpairment many of whom do not attend other Groups.
The aim of the club is to provide a social venue for members, many of whom because of their visual impairment, feel isolated in the community. Twice monthly meetings (with various speakers and demonstrators) seek to stimulate their minds and outings are arranged throughout the year to inspire their confidence and encourage networking.
The Club has been in existence now for some 34 years and membership varies but currently stands at about 30. Members are conveyed by bus when monthly meeting take place but, when outings are held, each member can bring alonga carer to assist. This has the effect of building strong relationships and certainty helps members to reach their potential and to improve spaces and places, especially given the nature of the members’ particular impairment. The club is organised and run by 3 volunteers, a Chairperson, an Honorary Secretary and an Honorary Treasurer.
