Mlsslon, ObJe¢tlves and Strategy Mlssion Ststement Compliance with Public Benefit The Charity Truslees have had regard lo the Charity Commission for Northem Ireland's ststutory public benefrt guidance to ensure that activities entered into during the year have helped to achieve the charity's aims and objectives as well as providing public benefit. ObJe¢tlves The purposes of the charity are Fundraising for research inlo cure and treatment of the condition known as Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy Giving practical & financial help Lobbying for improvements in standards of care for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy patients in local hospitals and implementation of internationally accepted bast practi￿ standards of care by GP'S and hospitals in order to improve life expectancy Raising awareness of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy at local. national and governmental level through information pamphlets and lobbying local councillors, MLA'S, MP'S and government ministers Raising awareness of need for more funding Raising awareness of need lo simplify means of clinical trials for genetic medicines that will bring treatments to market much more quickly. Revlew of Activities, Achievements and Perfomiance The charity received £500 in donations during the financial year. During 2023 the charity donated £2,000 to Muscular Dystrophy UK for continued research into the condition Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. The charity also provided funding to facilitate physiotherapy to two local boys. Financial Review The receipts and payments accounts set out on page 6 reflect the activities undertaken by the charity in 2023. The charity had income of £500 and expenditure of £2,983 resulting in a deficit of £2,483. The charity had unrestricted reserves of £50,506 at 30 September 2023. At the end ofthe financial yearthe charity has assets of £50,506 (2022 - £54,989} and liabilities of £O.0012022- £2,000). The net assets of the charity have decreased by £{2,4831. Future Developments Funds will be utilized from 1 st October 2023 to 30th September 2024 in the following way., to continue to pledge monies lo Research for cure or treatments of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy to continue to supply equipment or other essentials {not catered for by N.H.S. or other bodies) to the sufferers, when and as required.
