During 2023 we have distributed financial assistance to 28 families of 55 children, who
struggle to meet the demands required to educate their child/ children. Two payments
were made, Summer and Winter, so that payments received can be used to augment limited
incomes. Those helped included one or both parents who are unemployed, guardians and
single parent families. The amount allocated is limited by our income from Department of
Finance, Central Fund for Charities and low interest received from investments in Building
Societies. Allocations were restricted to the Parish of Kirkinriola, Ballymena.
Parents and guardians use the grant to buy various items, which include, school uniforms, IT
equipment, sport5 gear, music lessons and books. Other uses include helping with school
fees.
Feedback from parents indicated that the grants were very much appreciated in that they
helped to pay for unforeseen overheads which occurred during the school year. One aspect
which was highlighted by parents was:_
a) Provided encouragement to children and parents in that they appreciated that someone
was supporting them during such difficult economic times.
