The net operational surplus for the financial year was £568,000, this was considerably above our expected

should be noled that il was an exceptional accounting adjuslment beyond our control, outsid8 income and
8xpendilure which we manage.
Our income was £520,000 over budget, the main drivers were fundraising income1£291,000 above) helped by
additional legacy income and increased yield from our managed inveslmenls1£223,000 above budget).
Expenditure continued to be well managed including providing lor the lull Agenda lor Change pay award and
making an interim pay award to help slafl during a period ol high inllation until the pay award was confirmed.

2. Fundlng and Income Generation
Lik8 other health and social care organisalions tho Hospice continues lo face increaslng costs from pay parlly
as well as in olhar areas, many driven by the cosl-ol-living crisis and inllalionary pressures. Considerable
analysis has gone into the eslablishmenl ol the budget lor the year ahead and our lulure anticipated costs.
We continue to be challenged on an annual basis to produce a positive operating budget, particularly so in the
current year due lo Ihe new costs associated with the dolivery ol our strategic aims. We believe that this
investment howevèr will result in a more resilient service and drive increased income in future years. Despite
planned increased investmént in people & technology and the continuing need lo malnlain our ageing lacility,
a budget with a small surplus has been agreed this year.
The Hospice's reliance on receiving substantial income Irom the public remains unchanged. In the reporting
y8ar, we generated £3.58 million from our communities which is around 65 % ol our lolal income (excluding
monies received lor a designal8d purpose, such as the Cancer Charity Support Fund ICCSFI moniesl. The
amount we will n8@d lo generate in the current and lulure years is expecled lo increase, particularly as the
current grant from CCSF will and this year.
The Hospice's compr8hansiv8 Strat8gic plan includ8s a locus on reduclng reliance on conventional incom8
sources by diversifying revenu8 Stream6. This involves the development ol corporate support. seeking to
grow donations Irom charitable trusts, increasing future legacy donations and growing regular donations and
continuing to maximis8 returns from inveslmenls.
Once again, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who supports us~ we simply cannot accomplish
what w8 do wilhoul your invaluable support.
