TAG’s Mission

TAG Members

TAG has 24 members at present. Members have disabilities such as Downs Syndrome, Autism, Dyspraxia, Aspergers Syndrome, Sotos Syndrome and Cerebral Palsy.

TAG activities have increased the self confidence and self esteem of its members. Our members have formed good friendships with one another and this has encouraged members to meet one another in their own time within their community outside of TAG activities.

TAG Volunteers

Members are supported by a group of dedicated, trustworthy volunteers who ensure their enjoyment and safety during the activities and outings.

TAG volunteers were awarded The Queens Award for Voluntary Service in 2013, which is the equivalent of an MBE (the highest award which can be given).

TAG is a member led organisation with two members and two volunteers who sit on committee and is registered with The Charity Commission for Northern Ireland.

Secretary’s Report

It has been another busy year at TAG and as always a wide variety of activities have been organised for our members to enjoy together.

At TAG we always like to try new things and our members tried some new experiences this year with Saturday trips to Tyrone Crafted Glass and Joanne Orr’s carriages where they had a trip on a horse and carriage and got to decorate a horseshoe to take home.

Our members at TAG love to keep learning new skills and we enjoyed a very informative evening with Eileen Mc Givern who taught us all about the Take 5 steps to Wellbeing initiative. She reminded us of the importance of getting out, socialising and having contact with people for our mental health and wellbeing.

We had a horticulture night to learn about gardening and made beautiful flower planters to take home with instructions on how to look after them over the summer.

TAG also held its first karaoke evening with great singing talent on show anda lot of fun had by all.

Our members kept fit with sessions of pilates and yoga.

We were able to enjoy some of the good summer weather and get out and about with outdoor bowling, a pizza evening in Kilbroney park and a social evening in the Whistledown Hotel followed by a lovely walk around the front shore.

As well as all this we of course found time for our regular favourites like archery, bingo, ten-pin bowling and line dancing.

TAG was supported through the year by our members and their families in our fundraising events including Christmas raffle, Moonlight walk, sale of Easter chicks and street collections.

We would like to thank our committee and volunteers for their support as always to members and their families. Thank you to all those who contributed to TAG in many ways throughout this year.

TAG have also gained some new members this year. We would like to welcome them to the group and hope they will share many enjoyable moments with us. We look forward to another successful year at TAG with many more activities to take part in.
