Accidental Tliealre, is a Belfast-based arts venue founded in 2012. In 2017, Ive took over an empty bank building in
Shafte5biii'y Square, a recognised priority ayea for urban regeneration ii) tlie Inost divisive and diverse area in Nortliern
Ii'eland. Fron) vacant to vibi?iit, we cl'eated a l 00-seat Ilieath'e, shared woi'kspaces, relieai'sal space, nieeting l'ooms and an
industry-leading digital and broadcasting space. All wilh very little external investment, bLIt with a lot of work and
fantastic cominunity siipport.
Accidental noiv houses professional, grass roots aiid con)Imunity arts, giving space for careers to be establislied and
creative passions to be fosteiEd. As a vital and proii)ineiil orgaiiisation in tlie area, we host evei)Is, workshops, classes,
perfoi'mances and meetings for the ivhole comniurkity. Oui- tai'geled pi'ojects aiid events look to address racial and social
tensions in the ai'ea (as demonstrated by the siimmei. 2024 I'iots).
Accidental is dedicated to nurturing creativity, fostering incliisivity, and building strong community ties through our
