Our routine for this year is much the same as the last year. The charity continues to follow the same aims and objectives, which are as follows:
Our Aims and Objectives
Our charity’s purposes as set out in the objects contained in the company’s memorandum of association are to advance the Christian religion throughout the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and elsewhere without geographical or sectarian limitation and in pursuance of this the company shall have the following powers:-
-
1) To proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ and to train and prepare workers for Christian service.
-
2) To prepare and publish Christian education material for all ages, and to review and approve courses already available, and to compose, make recordings and to distribute religious music.
-
3) To establish and supervise local churches and various communities, to baptize, marry and ordain for ministry, and to conduct ministries normal to local church.
-
4) To conduct foreign missions including religious meetings both directly and in conjunction with other individuals and organizations of like faith and objectives, and to provide funds for missionary efforts.
-
5) To assist those in poverty and to provide for basic human need.
As is our normal practice, the directors continue to routinely meet to review and discuss the charity’s activities, review current business, and set out strategies for the future. Any decisions other than routine business that require new expenditures are noted and kept on file.
The directors continue to remain the same as last year.
Eugene & Darla Smith remain employed by the charity. Their efforts continue to be supported by a good number of volunteers.
The directors have considered the charity commission’s guidance on public benefit, in particular the specific guidance on charities for the advancement of religion.
Our Activities and Achievements:
The charity’s activities have not changed. It continues to express its goals in three broad categories: the running of a local church in Ballymena, teaching and training throughout the UK, and missions abroad.
In this past year, it is the local church where most of our efforts have centred. All the normal activities associated with a local church are operating smoothly. The preaching times are recorded and are sent out to various participants, both locally and abroad
This local church is called ‘Dwelling Place Christian Fellowship’ and continues to have a separate bank account with the Danske Bank. The three directors of the charity still conduct the oversight of the church fellowship.
Opportunities for missions abroad has again been opening up. This takes two forms. Eugene has been asked to travel abroad to participate in teaching conferences for pastors. One such conference took place in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, and another in Bujumbura, Burundi.
The church has been able to connect with an orphanage in Bogota, Colombia. We have been able to donate to New Hope for Children in the UK which works closely with the orphanage in Colombia. It has been decided that nine members of our congregation will make a trip to Colombia to help in the orphanage for two weeks. That will take place in February 2026, but the plans are already set in motion! They are excited!
The creation of books continues to be an ongoing venture. The emphasis does not change and remains will on Bible study and training manuals, especially for leaders in third world countries. Books have been written which are distributed free of charge. The cost of writing, printing, and shipping are underwritten by the charity. These studies involve Bible exposition, teaching, and preaching materials.
Word & Worship Global Outreach, as has been the normal routine, continues to act as a resource for younger church planters. In addition to working with church leaders abroad, we also mentor younger men and women in Northern Ireland through personal relationships.
Perhaps the greatest event of this past year was the purchase of our building! We had been renting it for eleven years and the owner has been trying to sell it for a while. Though we tried to consider it five years ago, we could not do it at that time.
However, as our lease ran out in March 2025, we needed to consider the option again. We decided to believe that we could obtain the building. The congregation was in full agreement, and without any fundraising or advertising, we saw enough finances come in through very generous giving from our congregation and also from people abroad who remain close to us and have appreciated this ministry over the years. Within a very short period of time, over £200,000 came in and we were able to purchase the building for a cash sale – no mortgage and no loans!
The building’s location remains at:
101A Railway Street Ballymena, Co. Antrim Northern Ireland BT42 2AF
Financial Review
Every year, our accountant JJC Accountancy Limited files all our accounts to the appropriate government departments. Monthly, they also look after our salary calculations, taxes, national insurance for both the charity and its two employees, as well as file for the Gift Aid rebate.
Our banking procedures remain unchanged:
-
1) One account is designated for the paying of salaries and the work of mission abroad and related work.
-
2) Another account is for the local church ‘Dwelling Place Christian Fellowship’
-
3) A savings account. Since we are no longer paying a lease, the money that was being paid for the lease is now going into the savings account to pay for upgrades, repairs and refurbishments for the building.
The charity continues to be grateful for its faithful donors. We are committed keep the operation simple and basic. The only sources remain the free-will donations of those who attend the church, a few supporters from outside the church, offerings from friends to help finance some of the mission aspects, and the occasional honorarium received from being a guest speaker. There is never any pressure applied to anybody for donations. This charity is freely supported by the goodwill of responsible people.
We are grateful for the Gift Aid Scheme, which has been very helpful. In the fiscal year ended 5th April 2025, donations amounted to £225,986. £40,424 was claimed in gift aid.
Otherwise, we continue to choose to not get involved in projects that require finances beyond the normal giving patterns of those who support the work. Of course, it is hoped that the support base would grow, so that more projects will be able to be embraced.
