Little has changed since our last report. The charity continues to follow the same aims and objectives, which are as follows:

Our Aims and Objectives

Our charity’s purposes as set out in the objects contained in the company’s memorandum of association are:

To advance the Christian religion throughout the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and elsewhere without geographical or sectarian limitation and in pursuance of this the company shall have the following powers:-

The directors continue to routinely meet to review and discuss the charity’s activities, review current business, and set out strategies for the future. Any decisions that require new expenditures are noted and signed by all three directors and kept on file.

The directors continue to remain the same as last year.

The charity continues to employ two people (Eugene & Darla Smith) who devote the entirety of their time to the fulfilment of the objectives of the charity. Their efforts are supported by a good number of volunteers.

The directors have considered the charity commission’s guidance on public benefit, in particular the specific guidance on charities for the advancement of religion.

Our Activities and Achievements:

The charity’s activities have not changed. It continues to express its goals in three broad categories: the running of a local church in Ballymena, teaching and training throughout the UK, and missions abroad.

After the Covid pandemic, the local church’s activities have resumed as normal with numbers back up to pre-pandemic times. Hardly anyone participates through Zoom any more. However, we still record the messages on Zoom for those who are unable to attend in event of sickness, or due to their work schedule. These messages are sometimes circulated by the congregation around various parts of the world!

This local church is called ‘Dwelling Place Christian Fellowship’ and has a separate bank account with the Danske Bank. The three directors of the charity still conduct the oversight of the church fellowship.

Though there is still strong interest in foreign missions, travel opening up has been slow. A reason for this is due to hostilities and unrest. This has been the case for Ukraine, India, and Myanmar. Though it is not as conducive and relational, with the internet, we however have been able to conduct some teaching sessions with nations abroad, particularly Albania and throughout the continent of Africa.

Requests have come in for the future for travel to foreign nations to conduct teaching sessions for church leadership teams. There are possibilities for Kenya, Zimbabwe, Colombia, and perhaps even Bhutan and Nepal. But it is all tentative at the moment and will depend upon circumstances.

We continue to prepare study material for distribution. Books have been written which are distributed free of charge. The cost of writing, printing, and shipping are underwritten by the charity. These studies involve Bible exposition, teaching, and preaching materials.

Word & Worship Global Outreach continues to act as a resource for younger church planters. In addition to working with church leaders abroad, we also mentor younger men and women in Northern Ireland through personal mentoring.

The charity continues to rent a building for use as a local church, and a centre for teaching and training. The building’s location remains at:

101A Railway Street Ballymena, Co. Antrim Northern Ireland BT42 2AF

Financial Review

The charity continues to use the services of Michael Boyd, Boyd & Co. Every year, his office files all our accounts to the appropriate government departments. Monthly, they also look after our salary calculations, taxes, national insurance for both the charity and its two employees, as well as file for the Gift Aid rebate.

As in years past, the charity continues to operate three bank accounts:

1) One designated for the paying of salaries and the work of mission abroad and related work.

2) One for the local church ‘Dwelling Place Christian Fellowship’

3) A savings account.

The charity continues to be grateful for its faithful donors. We continue to abide by the policy that we keep the operation simple and basic. The only sources remain the free-will donations of those who attend the church, a few supporters from outside the church, offerings from friends to help finance some of the mission aspects, and the occasional honorarium received from being a guest speaker. There is never any pressure applied to anybody for donations. This charity is freely supported by the good will of responsible people.

As already indicated, we take advantage of the Gift Aid Scheme, which has been very helpful. In the year ended 5th April 2023, donations amounted to £55,365. £12,235 was claimed in gift aid. We continue to hold designated money in our savings account for the purchase of the building now being leased. No real advancement has been made on this issue and it is being reviewed. All monies received to date for that purpose has remained in the savings account.

Otherwise, we continue to choose to not get involved in projects that require finances beyond the normal giving patterns of those who support the work. Of course, it is hoped that the support base would grow, so that more projects will be able to be embraced.
