The trustees present theif annual report and financial statements for the year ended 28 FebrL¢ary 2024.
The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the a¢wunting policies set out in note 1 to the
financial statements and comply with the company's Articles of Association, the Companies Act 2006 and
"Accounting and Reporting by Charities.. Slalemenl of Recommended Practice applittable lo charities preparing their
accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland {FRS
102)" (effective 1 January 20191.
Objectives and activities
Salto's mission 15 to promole lifelong phy5i(al actrvty amongst people of all ages through gymnastics education.
The organisalion provides a wide programme of activities giving the opportunty for all people regaidless of
background to lake part in gymnastics for health, fitness and technical expert15e.
The benefits for all participants are broader than learning skills and techniques. Sallo Gymnastic Centre aims ID
enhan￿ physical literacy which ean Serve to increase physical actNity and reduce health concerns over child
obesity and fitness. Our activities and preSe￿e in the comtT)unrty can improve the qualrty of life and wellbeing for all
whether they are participants or spectators. In addition to mass participation in gymnastics, the Club has added the
aspiration of delivering excellent performance of the elile gymnast.
Despite the pandemic we continued lo fiJTrction a5 a charitable business where govemment guidelines allowed us to
fulfil our desire to provide benefrt5 to the public. Vvhere applicable we continue lo work with the community and our
stakeholders to excel lo the highest level possible given the difficult circumstances caused by the pandemic.
The trustees have paid due regard to 9uidance issued by the Charity Commission in deciding what activities the
company should undertake.
Achievements and performance
Reaching the Community
At Sallo our mission statement is "Gymnastics for all- and we slrwe to grow our membership by reaching Dul to Ihe
community by offering a variety of gymnaslics as follows:
Pre-school and recreation
Pre_school and recreational structured gymna5tiC5 classe5 are available from Monday to Saturday and we have
circa 1,000 members each week attending these classes.
During the year we hosled our first ￿CreatIOnal competition based on the Bfrtish Gymnastics Rise framework. This
was a huge success as the gymnasls had great fun and parents were delighted to be able tts watch their children
showcase their gymnastics.
Our Rec¥eation Summer scheme was very popular again as rt was fulty booked for the entire summer. The Summer
Scheme is open to non-BG members as well as our members and a number signed up for the new term whith
commenced in September 2023.
Our Parent Assisted Class for pre-school children was well attended throughout the year. This is a partially
slruclured class led by our coaches and allows the parents to supervise their own child during the session. The
Parent Assisted class is like a bridge between the Toddler Soft play sessions and the recreation classes with the
idea in mind of children transferring lo the Recreation Progfamme when eligible.
Inclusive
We introduced a recreatton dass on Saturday afternoon predominantly for children wilh leaming disabilitr'es" as
parents are more open about ADHD, Autism elc, and recognise that gymnastics is a good Source of providing
discipline and improving social skills in addition to the physical, mental and health benefits which come with
gymnastics.

Schools
We provide gymnastic lessons for 12 dtfferent local schools who attend our faL?lity on a weekty basis to participate
in structured gyrnnastics dasses to fvlfil their national curriculum actiwlies. This prowdes an opportunity to introduce
many children to the sport of gymnastics. It is also a means of lalent spotting.
Toddlets Soft Play
Our very popular Toddler Soft Play sessions were well attended. The Toddler Soft Play is an important part of
Sajto's development. Not only do the sessions provide a steady flow of income bul they also introduce toddlers to
gymnasb.cs at a very young age. wtth Ihe potential of remaining in the sport by becoming members of our
Recreation Programme and on some occasions our Performance Squad Programme.
Adutt Gymnasti&*
Our adult gymnastic class is still very popular. and nurnber5 increased during this fjnancial year.
During the year our Adult dass was regularty used by gymnasls from other clubs to help them prepa￿ ft)r the Adult
British Championships. We hosted our first Adutt Competition this year inviting gymnasts from the whole of Ireland
to compete. We received tremendous feedback which has encouraged us lo make this an annual event.
Squads
Our squads offer a performance pathway for boys and girls from age 5 upwards. During the year we fomed new
Foundation Squad5 following a talent identification day. Our squad gymnasts are gwen the opportuntty to potentially
ach international level through the squad structure we have in place_ With a long history of intemational
successes, our squad programme is ahvays in demand. We have over 90 gymnasts. male and female. on our
performance pathway.
other community benefits
Our Young Leadership Academy 5tli I going strong wtlh volunteers of age 14 upwards. OL¢r experienced coaches
provide mentoring for these young volunteers wtth the view that someday Ihey will become qualified coaches and
join our workfor￿.
We held an In-house Women's Artistic competition, the 'Tony Byme Invitstion81", inviting several Northern Ireland
dubs to participate. The number of participants doubled from the pwious year and reached capacity.
Perfom?ance
Safto is recognised as the Nation21 Centre of Excellence in Northern Ireland and during the year our elite gymnast
Ewan McAt*r represented Ireland at Wodd Cups and his best performart￿ was in Cairo where he placed 17th.
Eve McGibbon was selected to represent Ireland at an International in Osh) achieving a personal best alkaround
score.
Our head coach to the men's squad programme left during the year which had a signTficanl impact on the
development of our elile boys as r( took eight months lo recruit a new head coach due to a long delay in the UK Visa
application process.
Achievements
Our head coach to the women's efrte squad programme, David Carteton won Sport Nl Perfomiance Pathway Coach
of the Year. This was a fantastic achievemenl by Davrd as this is an award incorporating all sports throughout
Northem Ireland.

Our workforce during the year consisted of 20 staff of which 6 are full-time and 14 part-time. We are a club with a
strong belief in staff education and provide financial assistance to encourage where PDS5ible, staff ID clevelop their
coaching skills and obtain coaching qualtfications. During the year we had four coaches pass Level 1. three pass
level 2 and one pas5 level 3 coaching qualrfications.
Local Gommunty connects'ons
We are thankful to Lisburn and Casllereagh City Counryl and Sport Nl for their continuous support and of course our
members who have been very supportive.
We are especially graleful to our president Lady Mary Peters for her unconditional support.
Financial review
The resutts for the period are as set out on pages 11 to 23. The char-rty returned nel outgoing resources of £20,365
{2023 - nel incoming resources of £16,326). At 28 February 2024 the balance of reserves was £1,298,48712023 -
£1.318.8521.
It is the policy of the company that unrestricted funds which have not been designated for a spectfic use should be
maintained al a level equivalent lo be￿een three and six month's expenditure. The Iruslees consider that reserves
al this level will ensure that. in the event of a significant drop in funding, they will be able to continue the company's
current activities while consideration is given lo ways in which additional funds may be raised. Thi5 level of reserves
ha5 been maintained throughout the year.
Structurei govemance and management
Salto Gymnastics Club is a chanty limited by guarantee. incorporaled on 2 February 1999 and accepted as a charity
by the Inland Revenue from that dale and by Ihe Northern Ireland Charrties Commission from 2015.

Statement of trustees responsibilities
The trustees, who are also the directors of Satto Gymnastic Centre Limited for the purpose of ts)mpany law, are
responsible for preparing the Trustees Report and the financial ststements in accordance wf(h applicable law and
United tQngdom Accounting Stsndards (United lthngdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice).
Company Law requires the trustees to prepare financial slatements for each finan¢i21 year which gtve a true and fair
view of the state of affairs of the company and of the incoming resources and application of resources. including the
income and expenditure, of the charttable company for thal year.
In preparing these financial statements. the trustees a￿ required to-
- select suttable accounting poliaes and then apply them consistently:
- observe the methods and principles in the Charities SORP 2019 {FRS 102)-
- make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent
slate whether applicable UK Accounting Standards have been followed. subject to any material departures
disclosed and explained in the financial statements.. and
prepare the financial slatements on the going con￿￿ basis unless it is inappropriate to presume that the
company will continue in operation.
The trustees are responsible for keeping adequate accounting records that di5dose with reasonable accuracy at
any time the financial position of the company and enable them to ensure that the financial statements compty wtth
the Companies Act 2006. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the company and hersce for
laking Teasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other itregularilies.
Auditor
In accordance with the Company's articlès, a resolution proposing that GMCG LIS8URN be reappointed as auditor
of the company will be put at a General Meeting.
Disclosure of infonnation to auditor
Each of the trustees has confimied Ihal there is no information of wh￿h they are aware which is relevant to the
audit, but of which the auditor is unaware. They have further confimied that they have taken appropriate steps lo
identify such relevant infomiation and to establish that the audf(or i8 aware of such information.
This report has been prepared in accordance with the provisions applicable lo companies entitled to the small
companies. exemplions.
