The trustees present their annual report and financial slatements for the year eTKled 28 February 2023.
The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the accounting ￿lIcIeS set out in note 1 to the
financial statements and compty with the company's Articles of Association, ihe Companies Act 2006 and
'Accourti'ng and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable lo charities preparing their
accounts ￿ accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland {FRS
102)" (effective 1 January 2019).
Objectives and aGtlvltles
Sallo's mission is lo promote lifelong physical activity amongst people of al ages through gymnastics education.
The organi5ation provides a wide programme of act5Vities giving the opportunty for all people regardless of
background lo lake part in gymna5tiGs for health. filness and technical expertise.
The benefits for all partlcipant5 are broader than leaming skills and lechniques. Salto Gymnastic Centre ams to
enhance physical literacy which can serve to increase physical activity and reduce health concems over child
obesity and fitness. Our aGtivFties and presen￿ in the community can imwove the quality of life and wellbeing for all
whether they are participants or spectators. In addition to mass participatTh in gymnasts'cs, the Club ha5 added the
aspiration of delivering excellenl perf0mlar￿ of the elite gymnast.
The Iruslees have paid due regar(I to guidance issued by the Chaity Commission in deciding what activities the
company should undertake.
Achlevements and performance
Reaching the Community
At Salto our mission statement 15 'Gymnasts"cs for al" and we slflve lo grow our membership by rexhing out to the
communty by offering a variety of gymnastics as folbws:
Pre-school and recreation
Pre-school and recreational structured gymnastics dasses aTr available fr(Mn M￿daY to Saiurday and we have
circa 1000 members each week attending these classes.
During the year we inlroduced the new British Gyn￿aSticS Rise wogramme whith offers a huge variety of activities
to our recreation programme. This has also been widely a￿pted by the parents who are able lo view Iheir child's
progress online.
Our Recreation Summer Scheme was very popular again thi5 year as it wa5 fully booked for 7 weeks of the summer.
This is opened lo non-BG members and we r￿d that several will sign up for the new term which commences in
September.
Our Parent A5SiSted Class for pre-school clildren Col￿nueS to be popular. This is a partially slructured class led by
our coaches and all)ws the parents lo supervise thelr own child during the session. The Parent Assisted class is
like a bridge between the Toddler Soft play se5s1c￿$ and the recreation classes with the idea in M￿￿ of children
transferring to the Recreation Programme when a'gible.
Incluswe
We inlroduced a recrealiorb dass ry) Salurday aftemoon predominanlly for children with leaming rf6abjlbti'es" as
parents are mDre open about ADHD. ALrtism etc. and recognise that gymnastKs is a good Source of providing
discipline a(KJ improving social skills.
Schools
We provide gymnasb'c lessons for over 14 different local schoo15 WIK) attend Our facility on a weekly basis to
participate in structured gymnastics classes to fulfil their national cutricukm adi¥ities. This provides an opportunity
lo introduce many chil(tren to the sport of gy(Mastics. It is also a mearns of talent spotting.

Toddle￿ Soft Play
Our very popular Toddler Soft Play session5 were well attended. The Toddler Soft Play is an important part of
Sallo's development. Not only do Ihe sessions provide a steady flow of income but they also introduce toddlers to
gymnastics at a very young age. wlh the potenh'al of remaining in the sport by becoming members of oui
Recreation Programme and on some occasions our Perfomiance Squad Programme.
Adult Gymna51ics
Our adult gymnastic class is still very popular and numbers increas8d during this finanrial year. During the year our
Adult class was regularly used by gymnasts trom other clubs to help them prepare for the Adult British
Championships.
Squads
Our squads offer a performance paihway for boys and girfs from age 5 upwards. The squad gymnasts are given the
opportunity lo potentially reach inlemational level through the squad structure we have in place. With a long history
of intemational successes, our squad programme Is always In demand. We have over go gymnasts. male and
female. on our perfonnance palhway.
Other community benefits
During the year we promoted our Young LeadeT5hip Academy and now have 20 volunteers who come to the gym
each week. The programme is led by Rachael Irvine our Recrealion Manager who meets regularly with the team.
We held an In-house Women'5 Artlstic competition the 'Tony Byme Invitational" inviting several Northern Ireland
clubs lo participate. The competition was also to raise funds for the MND charity.
We hosled four perfo￿anCe educational workshops for coaches and gymnasls
tumbling, bar relea5e5,
Handstand, and dan￿ for gymnasts. This was opened to anyone who was a member of British Gymnasts'cs or
GymnastlC5 Ireland.
Achievemenls
Salto is recognised as the National Centre of Excellence in Northem Ireland and we had gymnasts qualify to
compete al the 2022 Bimilngham Commonwealth Game5 - Ewan McAteer who was sixth on vault and Eamon
Montgomery who was fifth on floor.
We also had three gymnasts compete at the 2022 European Championships- Emily Moorhead, Ewan McAteer and
Eamon Montgomery. Eamon was also selected to compete in the lfyt)rld Cup series winning a bronze medal on
floor in Baku and a Gold medal on floor in Paris.
During Ihe year we won Lisbum and Castlereagh Councll flub of the Yearf. and our male gymnast Ewan MG4leer
won "sports personality of the yea¢..
Conor McGovem who is our lead Men's Artistic coach won the Gymnastics Ireland 'lnternallonal Coach of Ihe
Yea¢..
Junior elile gymnast E5tella Volkoff won the ABC Council 'junior gymnasl of the yearf,.
Four of our elite gymnasts received awards from the "Mary Peters Trusr. to assist viith their preparation for the
European Championships and Commonwealth Games.
We currently have 10 full time coaches and 13 part-time coaches on our payroll. We are a dub wtth a strong belief
in staff educalion and provide financial a55i51antr to encourage where possible, staff to develop their coaching
skills and obtain coaching qualificats'ons,

Local community connections
In March 2022 Salto In partnership with LCCC, hekl a "Duathlon Evenf in Wallace Park in Llsbwn. The event was
to raise funds for the Motor Neurone Disease Charity (MND) followlng the diagnosis of the late Tony Byme, our club
lounder who sadly passed away in July 2022.
We are thankful to Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council and Sport Nl for their continut)us support and of course our
member5 WIK) have been very supportlve.
We are especially grateful lo our president Dame Mary PeteTS for her unconditional support.
Flnanclal revlew
The results for the period are as set out on pages 11 to 22. The charity retumed nel Incoming resources of £16.326
(2022 - £169.682). At 28 Febnjary 2023 the balance of reserveswas £1.318,852 {2022- £1.302.526).
It is the policy of the company thal unrestricted funds which have not been designated for a spec￿lC use should be
maintained at a level equivalent to between three and six month's expenditure. The trustees consider that rese￿eS
at this level will ensure thal, in the event of a Significant drDP in fimthng. they will be able to continue the company's
currenl activities while consideration is g6ven to ways in which adthtional funds may be raised. This level of reserves
has been maintained throughoui the year.
Structurei governance and management
The company is a company limited by guaran￿. fegistered with the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland and a
registered charity for lax21ion purposes.

Statement of tru5tee5 responslbllltles
The trustees. who are also the directors of Salto Gymnastic Centre Llmited for the purpose of comtany law are
responsible for preparing the Trustee5 Report and the financial statements in accordance with applicable law and
United Kingdom Accountlng Standards {United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounts'ng Practice).
Company Law requires the trustees to Prepa￿ financial statements for each financial year which gtve a true and fair
view of Ihe slate of affairs of the company and of the incoming resources ar￿ application of resources, including the
income and expenditure, of the charitable company for that year
In preparing these financial slalemenis, the tNstees are required to:
select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistently.-
observe the methods and principles in the Charsties SORP 2019 (FRS 102);
make judgements and estimates that are ￿aSonable arKI pwdent:
stale whether applicable UK Accounting Standards have been followed. subject to any material departures
disclosed and explained in the fIr￿ncIal statements; and
prepare the financial statements on the going concem basis unless it is inappropriate to presume that the
company will continue in operation
The trustees are responsible for keeping adequale accounllng record5 that dlsclose wrth reasonable accuracy at
any time Ihe financial position of the company and enable them to ensure Ihat the financial slatemerrt5 comply wilh
the Companies Act 2006. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the company and hence for
taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other i￿egUlarities.
Audltor
In accordance with the company's artide5. a fesolution proposing that GMCG LISBURN be reappointed as audltor
of the company will be put at a General Meeting.
Dlsclosure of Inforniatlon to audltor
Each of the trustees has confirmed that there is no information of whlch they are aware which is relevanl to the
audit, bul of which the auditor is unaware. They have further confimied that they have taken appropriate steps to
identify such relevant informats'on and to establish that the auditor 15 aware of such infomiation
This report has been prepared in accordance ￿￿th Ihe provisions applicable to companies entitled to the small
companie5. exemptions.
