The charity was established for the purpose of relieving poverty, suffering and distress of the inhabitants, particularly the children and young people of Rachel’s Place Orphanage / Amy’s Crèche in Sekhalabateng, Lesotho and the surrounding area, also for the advancement of education for the village children of Sekhalabateng in Lesotho and the promotion preservation and protection of the health of the inhabitants, particularly the children and young people of Rachel’s Place Orphanage / Amy’s Crèche and to provide assistance and financial aid to support the charitable work of Rachel’s Place Orphanage / Amy’s Crèche in Sekhalabateng, Lesotho, South Africa within the local community and this is still our purpose.

Annual report year ended march 2023.

From April 2022 to March 2023, we forwarded £35,178 to Rachels Place and Amy's creche in lesotho.

This money was raised through private donations, gift aids and shop sales in The Charity Shop based at 45 Market Street, Tandragee.

After receiving receipts money is sent directly to Pastor Edward and continues to cover the cost of the day to day running of the orphanage and creche, also pays the wages of the house mums, teacher and pastor.

This is how our vision of care continues.

There are 36 children in the orphanage in Lesotho with an age range from 4 years to 17 years. The children are cared for by four full time house mums and one part time. The full-time mums live in the complex with the children.

There are 38 children attending the creche with an age range of 3 – 7 years old. We have a qualified teacher and a classroom assistant. They all get breakfast and a midday meal. We also supply each child with a school uniform, a coat, and shoes.

We had 6 children who reached the leaving age of 18 ( as of the country's law states) have been handed back safely into the care of a vetted relative.

The last aids tests have been good.

A group of 8 volunteers from Northern Ireland visited in February 2023 for 2 weeks and were able to do Maintenance, DIY and health and safety ensuring everything was up to date.

We also during this year have managed to get music equipment which is a great outlet for the children.

We have 3 football teams, 2 mens and 1 womens, with 1 of the boys teams in which are doing well in the league.

A successful youth club has also been started, with ages ranging

This is run by the pastor, His wife and the teacher. Weather permitting there could be 100+ attending.

The public benefit from the charity is our continually supply of clothing, furniture, and everyday essentials to reduce the poverty and suffering in Sekhalabateng and the financial aid to enable the day to day running of Rachel’s Place/Amy’s Creche, the school and medical assistance to ensure a better future for the children and young people in the area both educational and medically.
