## **Portballintrae Residents’ Association** 

## **Minutes of the Annual General Meeting held on Saturday 8th April 2023 at 10.00 am in Portballintrae Village Hall** 

1. Attendance was18 with apologies from Nora Campbell, Ian McDonnell, Catherine Milligan, Jim Milligan, Edith Nelson and Claire Walker. 

2. The minutes of the AGM held on 16th April 2023 were read, agreed and signed. 

## **3. Chairperson’s Report** 

For Geoff the highlight of the past year had been the Queen’s Jubilee Festival and he hoped that the King’s Coronation Festival in May would be equally successful. The Hallowe’en Fireworks display had attracted a large crowd but some people had expressed disappointment that there was no parade and that there were no activities in the Village Hall or at the harbour. The Association hopes to address these concerns next year although the cost of the fireworks at £4,200 is becoming prohibitive. Geoff outlined the project to upgrade the play park and to develop the adjoining grassy area and Lisanduff Ring Fort for the benefit of the community. Geoff thanked CC&GBC for all their assistance but expressed frustration at the failure to reinstate the Runkerry Brook Bridge. Geoff concluded his report by appealing for more young blood  in the Association and on its committee. A full copy of Geoff’s report is attached. 

## **4. Financial Statement and Report** 

Gail reported that the Association’s opening balance at the beginning of January 2022 was £18,376.80 and the closing balance at the end of December 2022 was £10,634.42. Our annual income was £1,878.52 and our annual expenditure was £9,620.90. The level of expenditure is high because two fireworks payments came out of our 2022 account, £3,000 for 2021 and £4,200 for 2022. With further anticipated contributions, the Queen’s Jubilee celebrations cost the Association £351. A copy of Gail’s report is attached. 

## **5. Election of Trustees and Ofce Bearers** 

Sam Turtle conducted the election. The committee was chosen unanimously as follows : Chairperson - Geoff Baird Vice Chairperson - Barbara Cooke Treasurer - Gail Morrow Minutes’ Secretary - Sam Turtle Correspondence Secretary - Kerrie Laverty Leonora Campbell Moira Johnston Stephen Kincaid Ashley Matthew Muriel Meyler Fran Milligan 

**6.** The AGM ended at 10.40 am.
