Bronte Primary School and Nursery Unit PTA

Report for 2022-2023 School Year

Our school PTA had a very successful year, raising funds for school resources and purchasing new resources for all our pupils.

We started off the year with our AGM on Thursday 13[th] October 2022, where Ms Ruth Garrett and Mrs Clare Kearns were re-elected as Chairperson and Treasurer respectively and Mrs Jane McCallister was elected as Secretary.

An enthusiastic group had lots of fundraising ideas for the incoming year, and it was agreed that there would be a Movie Day in the first term, a Break the Rules Day in the second term and a Fitness Friday in the final term.

PTA are always happy to provide little extra touches for special events in school and once again provided Christmas Crackers for all the pupils and staff for their Christmas Dinner Day on Friday 2[nd] December. The crackers cost a total of £40.

The PTA Movie in Pyjamas Day on Wednesday 7[th] December was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone, with pupils and staff in their comfy PJs! The Shepard family donated popcorn for the event and PTA purchased juice costing £23.68. With pupils paying £3 each up to a maximum of £10 per family, the event raised £519.32.

In line with the objective of enhancing the learning experiences of pupils at Bronte Primary School and Nursery Unit, the PTA helped to provide and serve refreshments at the School Christmas Concert on Thursday 15[th] and Friday 16[th] December 2022. The total cost to PTA for the refreshments was £49.

In March 2023, PTA paid for the Paths Programme, which the school is using to deliver PDMU lessons to all pupils from P1- P7. This is a terrific programme and is proving of great benefit to pupils and teachers in this area of the curriculum.

On Friday 24[th] March 2023, PTA had another very successful fundraiser, with a Break the Rules Day. Pupils paid £5 each up to a maximum of £10 per family and raised the terrific total of £877, with no expenses.

As part of their support to school, the PTA also help with the purchase and distribution of school uniforms during the months of May and June. PTA made a small profit of £146.10, through the sale of uniforms.

The final fundraiser, organised by PTA was a Fitness Friday, on Friday 16[th] June 2023, which raised the fantastic total of £2164.12. Refreshments for the event were sponsored by Tesco and no cost was incurred by PTA.

PTA were also able to raise £114.07 through the AmazonSmile scheme this year. Unfortunately, this scheme is no longer available.

The total raised by PTA during the school year was £3844.92 and after expenses £3471, not including the Paths Programme purchase.
