PTA ANNUAL REPORT 2022/2023
PTA
CHAIRPERSONS REMARKS
Following a quiet September in 2022 we at the PTA provided the children at the school with a tube of smarties each in the month of October. The kids enjoyed eating their smarties and returned their smartie tubes full of change. The garden renovation work continued in the garden with great progress made.
October then got even busier with Frankie Hilton, a pupil at the school, held an amazing pedal tractor run for all the pupils in school. The children got sponsored by parents and friends. This was a super fun fundraiser and all monies went to support the Macmillan unit.
At our AGM in November we celebrated all of the hard work that had been achieved in 2021-2022. All positions were filled and a new Parent Governor was also elected after the main business had been completed.
Festive December as usual saw the PTA funding transport to take pupils to the Panto at the Braids and providing selection boxes and chocolate Santas for all the children. These were even hand delivered by the big man himself.
The new year came in and January saw the PTA fund a new touch screen white board for a classroom in the school, as well as in school activities for the children to take part in. Both the children and teaching staff praised the PTA and immediately saw the benefits of digital learning.
The PTA committee hit a fire side quiz fund raiser in February 2023. This was great fun and enjoyed by the parents who took part. We where also over the moon with a few businesses in the local area who made donations to the PTA which will helped fund future school activities.
March came along and the spring fair came along with it. A super annual fund raiser involving the whole community. A great day was had by all.
In May, After the spring fair hustle passed the PTA was able to make a donation of funds to the Kirkinriola early years nursery out of funds raised at the spring fair. The PTA provided support at the Tea Party for the Kings Coronation and provided the bench dedicated in memory of Mrs Douds.
June saw the PTA supporting the school by helping to fund an educational visit for the children. They had a great time learning using different teaching mechanisms. We also provided the P7 pupils with a leavers teddy bear each and round off the year with a sponsored colour run fundraiser which all the kids enjoyed thoroughly.
