ANNUAL TRUSTEE REPORT for 'The Friends of Ballycarry Primary School, N.1. Charity Commission Number: 101745 Financial Year: I" September 2023- 31" August 2024 Charity Purpose: Improved relationships between home and school: The benefit which flows from this purpose includes fuiiding for additional resources for tlie school and links bullt wlih the local comniunity. This is demonstrated through having an active PTA that works in partnership with the school and engages parental support. Advancing the education of pupils in the school: The benefit which flows from this purpose includes Increased educational progress and attainment of pupils in the school and links built with the local community. This is demonstrated through pupils having access to resources, events, activities and links with the local community which are not available through direct school funding. Tlie purpose does not lead to harm. The benefit is for children at Ballycarry Primary School. Charity trustees are usually also parents at the school which their children attend and hence gain benefit in the same way as all other beneficiaries. This benefit is incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to all beneficiaries. We raise funds for Ballycarry Primary School by organizing events. Summary of the year: Parents, guardians and the extended community were encouraged to support the work of the charity and have done so in a number of ways this year, such as: Donating items to the school (tissues, anti-bacterial wipes, cleaning cloths, pencils, etc.) Supporting fundraising activities. Signing up to 'Easyfundraising' to raise funds via this when shopping on-line. We believe the community aspect is a hugely important part of the work of this charity in the development of the children and the building of relationships & sense of belonging. The group raised £1314.34 in the 2023/24 year with the most successful fundraising, in monetary terms, coming from the Christmas Fair, Summer fair and Smartie tube collection Christmas Fair-The fair included a Santa grotto and stalls included crafts made by the children, bottle & chocolate tombolas, coke taste test, lucky dip, pancakes, home baked goods, teas, etc. Smartie Tube collection of 20ps- 'We've given you these Smarties to eat, But the empty tube you must keep, For every task done earn 20p, It's up to you to earn your fee, Fill up yourtube right to the top, Return & we'll add up the lot, was both an easy fundraiser to facilitate & welcomed by many parents/guardians as way to encourage the children to do their chores, etc. Summer Party, Hampers & Choc Tombola - Run as an end of year celebration in June 2024 this was as much about giving the children a good send off for the summer as It was to raise funds for next year. Several donations were made to the school throughout the 2022/23 year, totalling £2500, for items such as a pantomime trip and general materials for the school. The closing balance at the end of the year was £2894.76. Please see the Treasurer's Report for the breakdown of income and expenditure.
