Flying Horse Ward Community Forum Trustees Report 2022- 2023
1. The Charity is known as The Flying Horse Ward Community Forum.
2. Charity Commission Number is 101730
3. The Group Purpose is;
Purpose 1.) The Forum is established to: relieve poverty, sickness and the aged
and to promote the benefit of the inhabitants of the Flying Horse Ward and it's
environs { hereinafter described as "the area of benefit")without distinction of age,
sex, race, political, religious or other opinion, by associating the statutory
authorities, voluntary organisations and inhabitants in a common effort to
advanced education and to provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for
recreation or other leisure- time occupation with the object of improving the
conditions of life for the said inhabitants-
Purpose2.) to establish or secure the establishment of a Community Centre
(hereinafter Called "the centre"> and to maintain and manage or to co-operate
with any local statutory authority in the maintenance and management of such a
Centre for activities promoted by the Forum and its constituent bodies in
furtherance of the above objects.

5. This report is for the financial year 1StApril 2022 - 31st March 2023.
6. The Forum did not submit reports for the following years 202 - 2021 and
2021- 2022 due to Covid and the group unable to meet and carry out
activities. This is the 4th report submitted to Charity Commission.

7. Activities carried out in 2022 - 2023
Support given to two senior groups Downpatrick Men Only and Active
Mind Active Body, provided a number of activities including Yoga,
Mindfulness, Boccia, bingo, Falls Prevention talk, arts & crafts, Ten Pin
Bowling and various health talks.
Attended meetings with a number of agencies to address Anti-social
Behaviour within the estates.
Designed a youth diversionary project in Ballymote.
Attend regular meetings such as interagency, Housing community
Network, Neighbourhood renewal, DEA and community engagement
groups.
The Forum in partnership with local community groups held the
following events: It's a Knockout fun day, Family Christmas event and a
Sensory fun day event.
Planning permission for New Build to replace the Trojan Horse passed,

The direct benefits which flow from purpose 2.1 includes access to facilities
and activities to improve education, health and wellbeing.
These benefits are demonstrated through feedback from participants and
beneficiaries and by the level of uptake of services. The purposes of our
charity will not lead to any harrn.
The charity's beneficiaries are people living in Ballymote and Cathedral Wards
areas of Downpatrick.
A private benefit to trustees may arise from our programme of ongoing
training programmes. Through this training trustees gain skills and experience
which are transferable to other settings. These benefits are incidental and
necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to our beneficiaries,

meeting place i.e. Trojan Horse (The Centre) to maintain and manage with
support from to get together with others to enjoy social interaction and to take
part in activities of a social and recreational nature. The participants learn new
skills and share their own knowledge and skills with each other. These
benefits are demonstrated through feedback from participants and
beneficiaries and by the level of uptake of our activities. The purpose of our
charity will not lead to any harrn.
