MEETINGS OF THE COMMUNITY GROUP
Our AGM survey back in January 2023 provided our Group with valuable feedback and direction. Meetings focused on the delivery of activities and events to make use of the significant refurbishments undertaken in 2021/22. Focus was also given to preparing our community facility for green energy. The community group also connected with COSTA for invaluable advice and support.

CHAIRPERSON’S REPORT 2025
A wide and varied range of events and activities took place in 2025, which delivered our objectives as stated in our Public benefit statement namely: Advancement of Education, Advancement of Arts and Culture and Local Community participation.
We commenced the year with a very informative community policing talk which gave all in attendance stark reminders on the dangers of scamming, how to secure our property and manage our personal safety.
This theme of safety carried through to our next activity, Food Safety Training where we joyfully welcomed our tutor back to Kilnaslee along with new faces from other local organisations. All were keen to learn and refresh their food safety knowledge and understanding. This course was memorable for all the right reasons, plenty of horror stories shared and a variety of staged hazards set up in our kitchen for all to spot, with the favourite being the plastic rat poking out from behind the kitchen bin.
Our educational courses continued with a First Aid course for 10-16 years olds , again facilitated superbly by our tutors. We were delighted to host young people from other local organisations and see them benefit from this valuable training opportunity. The defibrillator training was a standout part as everyone got to use a training device that closely imitated an actual defibrillator.
Spring not only saw our Community Garden produce beautiful flowers but also Kilnaslee Arts Programme return. Over the year 38 workshops took place for children, teens and adults across 19 weeks, under the expert direction and encouragement of a local artist. Talent was found and explored in watercolour and acrylic painting, pencils and charcoal drawing and collage. Air-dry clay and oil painting were new but proved to be very popular. With an abundance of flowers on our doorstep, they along with animals inspired and contributed to these creative workshops. The world of printmaking was unknown to most, but local specialist had everyone full of confidence at the end of her three-week programme. We were delighted to see that word of mouth had encouraged new faces to attend our art workshops this year. This activity continues to show the talent and creativity of our local community.
The gardening momentum from 2024 carried over with a few rounds of shrub planting and a thorough round of weeding. The variety of colour and fragrance was

enjoyed not only by all who drove past but also by an abundance of butterflies and bees.
Our summer walking club returned for its third year and all enjoyed the surroundings of Dungannon Park, Parkanaur and Pomeroy Forest Parks. Family, friends and neighbours continue to enjoy this activity during the summer months, and it is certainly a good opportunity to clear the mind and stretch the legs.
Music continues at Kilnaslee with pipe and drum tuition being regularly attended throughout the year. The talent continues to thrive under the careful and faithful direction of our leaders and tutors. We thank them for their commitment to developing and maintaining our musical culture on the ‘pound hill’.
Autumn saw our annual table quiz take place at Dungannon Rugby Club. Despite the weather, brains were kept busy by our excellent quizmaster and competition was fierce with the regular quizzers keeping the points difference tight to the end. We thank all who donated to the raffle and bought raffle tickets on the night, particular thanks to Dungannon Rugby Club for providing their venue and staff. This remains a core fundraising event for community group funds.
As the weather turned wintry, line dancing got underway which brought new faces to our Hall and everyone was made most welcome.
Kilnaslee Bowling Club continues to go from strength to strength with younger members testing the skills of more experienced members. The arrival of new bowling mats was a welcome addition to the hall and will no doubt be well used during practice and competition matches.
Christmas arrived with our annual Christmas craft class, folk were set the task of creating a festive table decoration. Under the tutelage Gillian and an abundance of materials to choose from, over twenty decorations were created and a delicious lunch enjoyed by all. We thank all who organised and prepared all for this extremely popular activity.
The 2025 Christmas Party was high energy with Urban Motion giving everyone the confidence to try out their freestyle hip-hop moves. By the time supper appeared everyone was ready to rest and recharge for the special guest. A rousing round of

Jingle Bells saw Santa Claus appear laden with gifts for all. We want to thank all who gave their time and effort to make this event a success for so many local children and their families. It was a wonderful evening to round off a busy year of activity.
Refurbishments continue at Kilnaslee Orange Hall with our back door and kitchen windows now secured with electric shutters. The Meter Board has undergone significant refurbishment, with a modern 3-phase labeled cabinet of fuses and a generator connection. In addition, significant legal, architectural and engineering planning took place to prepare for our roof refurbishment and solar panel installation. We want to thank all our local businesses, contractors and volunteers who have given their time to improving and maintaining our hall.
Another bumper year of activity and events has seen 2025 enrich the lives of local people in this rural area. We are grateful to so many for their contribution towards making everything we do here a success.
As we approach the 50[th] anniversary of this building, we will have a few quiet months as the roof work takes place. With so much achieved, we want to continue to meet your needs in the years ahead.
Drawing everything to a close, we remember the generous service of those who we miss and aim to continue in their footsteps, by supporting our community.
