Meeting Minutes 10 February 2020 

## **Opening** 

The Annual General Meeting of GLM Community Development Association AGM was called to order at 8.00pm on 10 February 2020 in GLM Millennium hall by Danny McSherry. 

## **Present** 

Angela Canning, Alison Hutcheson, Eleanor Flack, Arnold Carville, Ann Ferris, Lorraine Scott, James Magowan, Danny McSherry and Kevin Kenny the presiding officer 

## **Apologies** 

Mary McCone, Pauline Ward, Jim Martin, Jude and Brenda McAleenan. 

## **Adoption of Reports** 

Silver Threads Senior Citizens delivered by Alison Hutcheson, adopted on proposal of Lorraine Scott and seconded by Angela Canning. 

Women’s Institute delivered by Lorraine Scott, adopted on the proposal of Eleanor Flack and seconded by Alison Hutcheson. 

Chairperson’s delivered by Daniel McSherry, adopted on the proposal of Angela Canning and seconded by Eleanor Flack. 

Treasurer’s delivered by Eleanor Flack, adopted on the proposal of Anne Ferris and seconded by Daniel McSherry. 

## **Matters Arising** 

James Magowan asked that National Lottery Fund money be listed as such instead of under ‘Grants’ 

## **Election of Officers for 2020** 

Presiding Officer Kevin Kenny took over the chair and presided over the election of officers for the incoming year. Before the election of officers outgoing chairperson Daniel stated he couldn’t stand again as according to the constitution an officer can only hold the position for three years. The committee felt this was unfair and as other officers in preceding years have been in office longer than three years it was suggested that the constitution be changed. This amendment was passed on the proposal of Arnold and seconded by Alison. Results are as follows: 

Daniel was nominated for position of chairperson and elected on the proposal of Angela, seconded by Anne 

Arnold was nominated as vice chairperson and elected on the proposal of Daniel, seconded by Lorraine 

James was nominated as secretary and elected on the proposal of Eleanor, seconded by Angela 

Lorraine was nominated as minute secretary and elected on the proposal of Angela, seconded by Alison 

Eleanor was nominated as treasurer and elected on the proposal James, seconded by Arnold 

All present and those with apologies were automatically selected onto the committee viz; Angela, Alison, Anne, Jim, Brenda, Jude, Mary and Pauline. 

This concluded the meeting and the committee thanked Kevin over a cup of tea and a bun for giving up of his time to come to Mountnorris to chair our AGM. 

Terry O’Hanlon arrived to explain the funding St. Killian’s GAC received from Newry Mourne and Down council to produce a map of the parish with local names of townland and places with peculiar names and their origin. 

## **Adjournment** 

Meeting was adjourned at 9.30pm by Danny McSherry. The next meeting will be on Friday 17 January 2020 at 7.00pm in Basil Shields restaurant at Tassagh crossroads.

**PS As I will be in America for two weeks this meeting is cancelled and the next meeting will be the April one on 20[th] April (put back a week due to Easter). The meeting will commence at 8.30pm after the Tai Chi class is over.**
