THE BIRCHES COSY CLUB & DAY CARE CENTRE ANNUAL REPORT FOR THE YEAR 2022 CHARITY NUMBER 101621 Financial yearfrom l January 2022 until 31 December 2022. Publlc Benefft In setting our objectives and planning our activities for the year the trustees have given careful consideration to the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland's guidance on public benefft to ensure that the activities have helped to achieve the chariws purposes and provlde a benefit to the beneficiaries. All our attivities are related to one or more of the followin8 charitable objectives. 6The advancement of citI￿nShIp or community development 2. The advancement of health or the savlng of lives 3. The advancement of arts, culture, heritage or sclence Our New Year started on Tuesday Iith January with just 11 members attendin& we played Bingo wlth the help of volunteers. We had Bruce White booked for 6 sessions, so we opted to start with momln8 of Yoga which was much enjoyed by all. Our numbers rose to 15 plus the volunteers, we began the second week with old large dirty roof slates, much to our dismay and after some talks everyone decided on their subject to paint on them....and so continued painting for a further 4 weeks.... surprlsingly they turned out very well and everyone was pleased with thelr efftirt. On the sixth week we finished wlth Yo8a. On Tuesday 1st March we had music and a sing-a-long with Johnny Forde, again our numbers stayed at 15, thls was followed by two weeks of Paintin8-on-Ceramics with Jennifer McNally, then a day of Boccia and the following week a Quiz. Our numbers had increased to 19 and we were looking forward to our Easter outing to Dobbies which was much enjoyed by all. After the Easter break we had a survey to fill in from the SHscf, which took all mornln8. On 3rd May we had muslc with Johnny Forde, followed by a Geography/General Knowledge Quiz, then on the 24th we had Boccla which is very popular with everyone and on 31st Beetle Drive and Board Games. On Tuesday 7th June was our big Platinum Jubilee Celebrations for her Majesty Queen Elizabeth- we had music, special trifle, a special cake and buffet lunch. Everywhere was well decorated and lots of photos were taken - especially ones with a large cut-out lrfe slze image of Her Majesty- this was very popular. We had 35 members and friends attending- great day was had by all. Then down to earth again on the following Tuesday we had Carol Murray from the Alzheimer's Trust for a long discussion on Dementia Awareness. On 21st we had 2 members from PCSP with Goody Bags for everyone, this was a long session with many questions asked and lots of advice given in return..-every detail was checked and all were very pleased with thelr information. We then had Mary Fox from Maghery with her Flute, iolin, a Story Teller and Singer. lovely to listen to and relax. Our last day on the 5 July was music with Johnny Forde when we had 17 members. We were closed until 15 August, the

day before the summer outing- on the 15th we played Bingo and finalised the arrangements for the outing. On the 16th we went on our Outin& calling at Walsh's Hotel In Maghera for Morning tea/coffee and then on to Creative Gardens in Galgorm for some retail therapy. We then came back to Cookstown for some more retsil therapy and then to The Royal Hotel for our Evening meal- a good day was had by all. The 23rd we played Boccia and on the 30th we had a young local tslented special guest singer- Grace Ogilby to entertain us. On 6th September we had music with Johnny Forde, on 13th a lady called Sarah from Armagh Museum with two boxes of ancient items of much interest- a lot of reminiscingl On the 20th we had Jennifer from Citizen Advice. On the 27th we had a very Interestin8 mornlng with Hazel Boland together with Chrfs Mccarney and Jonny Cordner entitled 'My Townland and me'_ where everyone had to add some local history knowledge to thelr maps. On 4th October we had a quiz and board games. On thellth we were closed as a mark of respect due to the sudden death of Edith's husband Herbie at hls home. On the 18th & 25th we had Crafts with Sarah. On 1st November we had the usual music with Johnny Forde. 3rd we were invSted to Maghery Group by Mary Fox for music, song and storytelling. On the 8 & 15th November we had exercise & advice with Sean Collins. 22nd November Flower Arrangin8 th with Sarah, 29 Ceramic Painting with Bluebell Ceramics. 6th December Christmas Card Making wlth Mary Benson & Emma Doyle- everyone made 3 cards to take home. Tuesday 13th was our Chrlstmas Dinner in the Club with music, Spot prizes, santa parcels and lots of fvn and lau8hter. This finished our programme for year 2022. The Craft Club contlnued to meet every Tuesday afternoon to continue with thelr Quilting etc for the Linus Trust, They joined with the mornin8 group for outings, parties and dinners. Signed.......

TRUSTEES The trustees who served during the year 2022 are as follows- Hawthorne Hynds Edith Stevenson Emma Doyle Reba Jackson Myrtle Bell Evelyn Miller Lucy Tate Margaret Boyd Sandra Ogilby There were no funds held by the charity that was in any way deficit at the end of our flnancial year and we had a closing balance of £4512.56.
