The performance was followed by a demonstration of stage combat techniques. Furthermore, the Gommunity was engaged in discussion of the scene in which the light took place, reviewing the value of the scene in the WOTk and continuing to contribute to the shaping of the artwork as they had for 18 months. Vault palntlng (June 2022) Clinton Kirkpatrick and Remi Shore worked alongside a team of 10+ volunteers to paint the performance space al vault artist studio's. Artistic director Andrea Montgomery bought pizzas lor volunteers for socialising at the end. Prototype performances (June 2022) PeTlormances ol the Trumpet & The King opened al two Nl VenUc￿. Quoen'g Hall, Newtownards. followed by The Vault, Belfast. As part of the weekend, cullural historian Michael Ohajuru was flown in lo join post-show discussions wilh alumni from the show's developmenl. The shows were well received by all audiences and feedback was key to shaping subsequent drafts of the work. Intercultural conference (July 2022) Andrea spoke at a conference on inter¢ultural theatre making in Zwi¢kau, Germany, and ran a workshop on aGlive interculturalism. Casting August 2022 Articstic Direcloi ran castings in Bellast lollowed by London lo replace one Trumpet & King actor. working wilh casting director Amy Blair. TNP Communiiy Catch Up." 'Cake & Chat, (Oclober2022) Terra Nova h05ted an afternoon catchup with community participants in order to inform attendees about what they can gel involved in nexi with the project. Aclor Sam Claridge checked in via zoom to talk about the new script. Pre-produGtioi? phase (O¢tober, November k December 2022) Artistic Director sold three week tour across Nl. Artislic Director undertook a week of develDPITieiit on Trumpel & King script. based on feedback. with Sam Claridge and Fedjiro Emasionbi, al Forest Hill Space. The Irainee Creative Producer sought further funds lor the project development. Artistic director completed a new drall of the script for January read. New Year Catchup & scrlpt read TNP alumni, communily pareticipants and professionals mel on Zoom lo watch a scripi read of the new material on 8fh January. Actor. Fejirp Emasiobi who was recast as John Blanke introduced himself to Ihe group. At the end ol the read through, participants gave the Arlistic Director their feedback. Belfast to celebrate 15 years of Terra Nova activity. The event was attended by board members, community participants and TNP alumni. Food was provided and a host ol entertainment came in the forms ol singing, dancing, and poetry. Rehearsals (February & March 2023) Artistic Director forced to hire an associate direclor due to personal circumslances relating to family. Fortunately, the Artistic DireGtor was able lo returrs lo rehearsals for the 2nd week. Associate Director remained an asset to the produclion throughoul. Traine8 Crealive Producer distributed markeling malerials to venues ahead of the tour. and liaised with diverse black and immigrant community groups with ticket offer designed to develop global majority and immigrant audiences. Artistic Director raised Good Relations funds to support regional theatre venues to book tour. Trumpet & The King Nl Tour (March & April 2023) Terra Nova began its first tour ol the Trumpet & The King on ihe 14th ul March 2023 at th& Grand Opera House. Opening night saw Ihe show draw a lull house. with 51°/0 ol attendees coming from the global majority populalion of Nl. This night was followed by a successful tour of 12 shows across 9 regional venues. Post-show engagement sessions were offered, allowing the audience to strengihen their connection with the work on show. Me You Us Them Film (Throughout the year) Me You Us Them thealre to film (shot in London in 2021) went into post-production throughout this period. It will be released in October 2023. Marketing A programme of recorded interviews ol pas1 participating artists and administrators who have worked with TNP throughout its history went oul on Facebook and Inslagram to celebrate Terra Nova's 151h Birthday. Schedule allowed for development of stTalegy, conduct research, plan for the fulure and fundraise. UTV broadcast a programme on our work in October 22. John Blanke Book Participation Michael Ohajuru has asked TNP to appear in a lorthcoming publicalion about John Blanke to be published in 2024. Blueprint A&8 Training AM, RS and Board members participated in various governance. neiworking and organisational development training sessions throughoul the year as part of their participation in the Blueprint programme through Arts & Business. HR Andrea Montgomery received a salary increase to salary rate in May that is in alignment wilh the Artistic Director posilion, paid £35k pro rata tor three days work per week. Dormant Accounts is funding one of thèse days per week for the next three years. along with Blueprint and BCC. TNP hired Remi Shore as a trainee Crealive Producer in May 2023 as part ot Ihree year Fulurescreens Nl fundraising. Training will be offered by AM. TNP hired Clinton Kirkpatrick as freelance Developmeni Manager to oversee the 151h Anniversary fundraising campaign. Clinlon compleled his work in April, 23. Deficit £4,469). Unrestricted fund balances al 31 st March 2023 were £8.948 12022- £18,677) with restricted funds of £28,111 12022: £32,720). Reserves are needed to bridge the timlng gap belween spending and receiving of income and lo cover unplanned lemporary shortfalls in income should they arise. Holding adequale reserves safeguards the provision of our services in the event of unexpecled significant financial pressures. The trustees will continue to increase the unrestricted reserves to £30,000 over Ihe next 6 months in line with the expected growth ol the compillly. Unrestricted reserves freely available to spend. therefore excluding fixed assets, restricted reserves and designaled reserves amounted lo £8.948 which was in line with the target level. The truslees believe this represents a sulficienl level ol reSe￿e to ensure thal the going concern assumpiion is appropriate.
