FINAGHY EVANGELICAL PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH

Trustees’ Annual Report 2023

In 2023 Finaghy Evangelical Presbyterian Church continued to provide an enriching service to the local community through opportunities for social interaction and pastoral care as it seeks to share the Christian Gospel through its purpose of the advancement of religion.

The regular meetings – services on Sundays, a midweek Bible Study and Prayer Meeting, Children’s Meeting and Women’s Meeting all continued to provide not just a spiritual, but social, outlet for the community thereby enhancing its cohesiveness. The Women’s Meeting in particular provides an important social outlet for older ladies to meet and enjoy interaction with others, thus helping to combat loneliness and isolation.

In addition, various special activities took place, all of which were open to the entire community. These included harvest services in October. The harvest services provide a channel to support people in need in other parts of the world through our “Help the Needy” offerings that weekend providing support to those facing extreme poverty in India, South Africa and Peru. Other special events included a Bible Club for children aged 4 to 11 years in May and a Christmas carol service.

A weekly children’s meeting was held for children aged 4-11 with help from the Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF). The children were able to listen to Bible stories, sing songs, and play games together.

All of these activities are geared towards meeting the congregation’s aim of supporting the spread of Christian values and service which we believe helps to bring spiritual, moral and intellectual development to the community of which we form a part.
