Activities

• To promote the advancement of community relations between all members of the community and town lands of Cavanapole in the County of Armagh area and its environs (hereinafter described as “the area of benefit”) without distinction of age, sex, race, political, religious or other opinion. It will so do by associating the statutory authorities, voluntary organisations and inhabitants in a common effort to advance education and to provide facilities in the interests of the social welfare, education, recreation or other leisure-time occupation with the object of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants. • To establish a Community Development Initiative and to co-operate with other relevant organisations in the promotion of activities by CHCG and its constituent bodies in furtherance of the above objects. • To promote and provide education in the Ulster-Scots music and culture and other indigenous traditions and cultures. In particular Cavanapole Historical Cultural Group will: • Advance through education the skills and knowledge of the inhabitants of the area of benefit • Facilitate the greater involvement of marginalised sections of the community, in particular women and girls, young people, the disabled and the elderly in the life of the community. • Promote awareness of the history, folklore and cultural heritage of the area. • Encourage acceptance, understanding and appreciation of the cultural diversity of the area of benefit. • Promote, by education and encounter, good community relations with other groups and cultural traditions and to interact with same in a spirit of peace and community reconciliation.
