Purpose
The purpose of the charity is to offer support and guidance to those adults within our local communities that have a learning or physical disability. Further we aim to support the families and careers of our members by providing valuable respite time for them whilst their loved ones are in our care.
Milestones / Achievements
Throughout the year we have continued to fulfil our purposes by providing a warm and friendly environment in which everyone is treated with respect and dignity. The members came together on the last Wednesday of each month to interact and socialise with each other. They have gained friendships, support, guidance and self-development including improved communication skills, confidence and independence.
Discos and Live Entertainment
Throughout the year we had two Elvis impersonator nights and numerous discos for the members. The members love music and it encourages them to get some physical activity and have fun with their friends.
Ice cream Van
During our summer discos we treated the members to an ice cream van. This was a great way to cool down in the summer heat.
Christmas Party
For our annual Christmas party we had a sit down Christmas meal at a local restaurant specially reserved for our members. Everyone enjoyed getting out somewhere to enjoy the festive activities.
Father Christmas made an appearance with presents which the members loved. The local fire men and staff and family members were there to support and celebrate another great Christmas night with lots of dancing after the meal.
Cinema Trip
In February we took the members to our local cinema. They enjoyed VIP seating and lots of snacks and drinks. They loved the film and the opportunity to get a night out with their friends.
Financial Position
The charity had a total income of £502 (donation and interest) for the year and a healthy bank balance of £10,002 at the year-ended 31[st] March 2024 with no debt. Major outgoings for the year were the Christmas meal, Elvis impersonator, cinema trip and insurance.
Magherafelt and District Gateway Club are look forward to many more years of helping those in need in our local communities.
