This report is prepared by the trustees of Magherafelt and District Gateway Club (Charity Number
NIC 101541) having reflected on the clubs achievements throughout the year and how these sit
aside the Northern Ireland Charity Commission's guidance on public benefit. The report sets out to
show how the club has helped to achieve the charity's purpose and provide many benefits to the
beneficiaries.
Further the club continues to be administered in accordance with the Club's Constitution.
Pur
The purpose of the charity is to offer support and guidance to those adults within our local
communities that have a learning or physical disability. Further we aim to support the families and
careers of our members by providing valuable respite time for them whilst their loved ones are in
our care.
At the start of 2022 the gateway club remained closed due to the risk associated with Covid 19,
reduced transport numbers etc. We continued to support members remotely, keeping in touch with
members, providing support and delivering easter eggs. In September and October the committee
met and agreed that we were now in a position to resume our face to face interactions with our
members. We met at the start of December for our Christmas party at a local restaurant. The
members loved being back socialising with the volunteer and members. The meal and disco were
enjoyed by all. We then continued to meet at our normal setting in 2023 were the members
appreciated the safety, familiarity and normality the gateway offers. Committee meetings continued
during the year to ensure member's wellbeing and needs were being catered for and to arrange
activities for the rest of 2023.
Financial Position
The charity had a total income of £304 (donation and interest) for the year and a healthy bank
balance of £12,692 at the year-ended 31,, March 2023 with no debt. Major outgoings for the year
were the Christmas meal, easter eggs and Christmas presents.
Magherafelt and District Gateway Club are look forward to many more years of helping those in
need in our local communities.
