STONEYFORD PARISH
ST JOHN'S CHURCH
alij
6" May 2025
Dear Parishioners,
I would like to thank you for your continuing support over the past year as Priest-in-charge
of St John's and assure you of my ongolng commltment to Stoneyford Parish in the future. I
would especially Ilke to thank the wardens, Donna, Zelda, Dessie and Terence, Treasurer,
Jason, Secretary• Jennifer and all the members of the Selert Vestry who have been
instrumental in building and maintaining the Parish here in Stoneyford.
Thanks go to our Organist Rosemary for leading us in our Praise along with Andrew,
Sophie and Lucy to SUPPOrt Rosemary in this Ministry going forward. Lucy will be
completing her Organ Scholarship in June.
.1 would also like to take the time to thank those whose ministry in the Church Is not as
obvlous. Those who keep the grass cut in the graveyard and grounds, keep the graveyard
regulated, clean the church and hall, help with the Summer Kids club etc. etc,. The 'Lawn
Rangers? headed up by Vicar's Glebe w￿rden Zelda and her te#m of volunteers have
continued the maintenance of the Church grounds for the past year. A fantastic Ministry
which all can appreciate and an opportunity for everyone to get involved in Serving in the
church.
The excellent 8ivin8 in Stoneyford continues as is the tradition In this hard-workin8 Parish
allowin8 the increase of God's Kingdom both in the fabric of the buildings and in the Gospel
mission. St John's continues to work with Mission Partners such as Christian Aid, CMS, CEF,
Crosslinks etc in order to share in the wider work of Christ's church incarnate here on earth. .
I would like to pay tribute to the work of the Stoneyford Community and Youth Association
for the great seniors clubs they run in the Parish Hall. I know that many of our members
enjoy participating in these activities along With the wider community. We are always 8lad
to support them in their events and activities in the Community when we can.

It has been great to have our hall and vestry repainted last summer, a special word of thanks
to Mark and his Dad for the great job they did.
We still have good numbers tuning into our services onllne, a valuable resource for those
unable to get to Church for Sunday services, Funerals and Weddlngs. I would like to
thank all those who have made this continuing ministry possible, in particular, Jason,
Jennifer, Lyndseyg Sarah, Claire, Dessie, Caroline and Rebecca for their time and talents.
We are open to more Volunteers for these jobs.
On a sadder note, we have had 4 funerals in the Parish over the past year, Roy Lewis,
Derek Smyth, Hilda CAnning and Annie McDonald, Peoples church warden for over 30
years and stalwart of St John's. Their families are still very much in our thoughts and
prayers.
It just lef4ves me to wish you all a blessed year to come in St John's, Stoneyford.
-unless the Lord builds the hoxse, its builders labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over
the city, Ihe watchmen slandguard in vain. ' Psalm 127
Yours in Christ,
Reverend John Farr, 60 Belfast Road, Glenavy, Co. Antrim, 8T29 4HR
