**Purposes:** a)work towards the elimination of racial discrimination and to promote equality of opportunity and good relations between persons of different racial groups by co-operating with other community and voluntary organisations, statutory authorities and agencies, private sector bodies and individuals to develop and implement effective strategies to counter racist attitudes, behaviour and harassment; b)promote diversity, non-discrimination, equality and intercultural understanding and social harmony; c)advance the education of the public in the causes and effects of racism, racial discrimination and hostility on grounds of race and to promote research into racism and publish the useful results of such research; d)promote, encourage and stimulate the production and use of anti-racist resources and anti-racist practice which contribute to balanced human development.
