TRUSTEES’ ANNUAL REPORT 2021 - 2022
Introduction
True Light Ministries International (aka TLMI) is a charity trust registered with Charity Commission Northern Ireland (NIC101415) for the purposes of the prevention or relief of poverty, the advancement of education, the advancement of religion, and the advancement of health or the saving of lives in Northern Ireland, United Kingdom and different states in India.
This report will include the works that the TLMI has undertaken, its working collaborations with other organizations, finance details, information of trustees, locations of its activities, and the public benifit statement.
Finance Report
During the financial year April 6, 2021 to April 5, 2022, the True Light Ministries India has had a total income of £11,542 which was £3,380 higher than the previous financial year. A balance of £1,269 was brought forward from the previous year. The entire income this year was made up of donations and Gift Aid only. The total expenses was £9,543, of which £9,451 was spent of direct charitable purpose through partner charities in India. £92 was spent as Bank Service charges. Due to technical issues we were not able to make payment to the web services, which was duely accepted by the service provider and informed that we can make payment in a later stage.
Gift-Aid
We were able to make a giftaid claim, which was also for the previous year’s donations. £1,192 was amount we were able to claim. This has helped the trust in its activities.
Working Collaborations
True Light Ministries International has working collaborations with Hospital Ministries India and True Light Charitable Trust. Both the organizations are charitable in nature and these organizations work to gether in their common causes.
Hospital Ministries India was established in 1985, and has a broad area of benefit across India. Their purposes of prevention or relief of poverty, the advancement of religion and the advancement of health or the saving of lives are common with True Light Ministries International and we are committed to do these purposes in the area of benefits proposed for TLMI. They conduct Free Medical Camps, Hospital Visitation, Palliative Care, Medical Financial Support, Hospital Lunch (Free of cost for poor patients and by standers), Prison / Jail Visits, Educational Support for poor students, Housing Support, Social Awareness camps, orphanages and child services are a few of their ministry area.
True Light Charitable Trust (aka True Light Ministries India), is an charitable organization registered in India. It is an organization leads to TLMI public benefits with the classifications the prevention or relief of poverty, the advancement of education, the
advancement of religion, and the advancement of health or the saving of lives through accommodation/housing, advice/advocacy/information, community development,counselling/support, cultural - economic development, general charitable purposes, overseas aid/famine relief, playgroup/after schools, relief of poverty, religious activities, volunteer development, welfare/benevolent, and youth development. But being relatively a new entity, it gets support from Hospital Ministries India. True Light Ministries India also works with other organizations in the area of benefits.
These collaborations are part of establishment of trust and mentioned in Article 3.1 in the trust deed.
Trustees
Currently, the TLMI has only three trustees. Jacob George continued to be the Managing Trustee and Chairman of the trust, while Abraham Mathew and Anu George have continued to be trustees. There was no appointment during this working year.
Location and area of benefits
As explained in the trust deed in Atricle 1.4 and 3.1 the area of benefits are the states of Andhra Pradhesh, Orissa, Bihar, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Uttharanchal and Chattisgarh, India in particular but not exclusively. As of now, the areas of benefits is State of Andhra Pradesh in India. TLMI is involved in community delvelopment, health deveopment, awareness programmes, educational programmes, etc.
Pandemic
India was one of the hard-hit countries where Covid-19 pandemic was affected. This has caused severe disruption in the activities of the charity. However, during this time the volunteers, community service persons and the missionaries of the TLMI has relentlessly worked for the welfare of the community by feeding, supporting them, providing with needful basic things, food grains, etc.
Public Benefit Statement
The Trust is established to support by means of financial assistance and voluntary work the work of True Light Ministries India and Hospital Ministries India and any charitable project for the the promotion of the Christian faith, prevention and relief of poverty, suffering and distress, the advancement of education, the promotion of sustainable development and the promotion, preservation and protection of health of the inhabitants (hereinafter referred to as “the beneficiaries”) of the states of Andhra Pradhesh, Orissa, Bihar, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Uttharanchal and Chattisgarh, India in particular but not exclusively (hereinafter referred to as “the area of benefit”) and to promote the benefit of those inhabitants who are in need of assistance as a result of their poverty or social and economic circumstances by associating with the statutory authorities, community and voluntary organisations and the inhabitants of the area of benefit in a common effort to provide residential accommodation, education and facilities in an effort to improve the conditions of life for the said inhabitants and in particular:

to relieve poverty and hunger in the area of benefit by any charitable means and in particular through the support of children’s homes and orphanages or residential care homes for the elderly and infirm and by the provision of food, clothing and care and the provision of grants and training to enable poor people to establish and maintain projects which will enable them to relieve their own poverty;

to promote or assist in promoting capacity building programmes and projects for the benefit of the inhabitants within the area of benefit who have need of such assistance as a result of their youth, gender, age, disability or infirmity, or social and economic circumstances, in an effort to increase the abilities, skills, self-esteem and self-confidence of such inhabitants in the area of benefit;

the relief of sickness among the beneficiaries by the provision of medical facilities and by the provision of advice, information and financial assistance with the costs of medical treatment and the provision of items and services required to ease their suffering;

to encourage new, and strengthen existing, partnerships with churches and evangelical groups in the area of benefit in an effort to enable local churches to support local communities in religious education and poverty alleviation;

to advance the education of children and young people on the basis of Christian principles through their educational and leisure activities so as to develop their spiritual, physical, mental and emotional capacities in such ways as the Trustees may from time to time think fit;

to promote Christianity, provide Christian literature and educate people in the area of benefit through evangelism and the provision of biblically based teaching, discipleship training, ministry training, meetings, bible studies and social activities;

to advance any other exclusively charitable purpose as the Trustees, may from time to time, decide in accordance with the law of charity.
Private Benefit and Potential harm
There is no private benefit arising from this charity. There has been no potential harmas a result of our charitable purposes during this financial year.
Charitable Commission’s Guidance
In setting of objectives and planning our activities for the year, the trustees have given careful consideration to the Charity Commission for NI’s guidance on public benefit to ensure that the activities have helped to achieve the charity’s purposes and provide a benefit to the beneficiaries.
