Welcome everyone, especially our loyal friends from SVP Kathy Donnelly, Bernadette McNiece, President Siobhan Devlin. Thank you for taking the time to be with us. I appreciate that you are kept busy in the good work you do for the whole community.

During this year, we have had regular committee meetings. This year we have a new secretary and 2 Co Treasures and 2 new committee members. Just to explain, last year we, started out with neither, so this will make a great difference to the club.

We have 31 members registered on our books, and we got 5 new members during the year. Obviously, we still encourage new members aged 60 and above to join our club. There are a lot of lonely people in our community, so put the word out, all would be made welcome and appreciated.

We hold bingo every Thursday and are joined by Sunnymead nursing home residents frequently, which increases our friendship circle and companionship. Their smiles are a treat for us too. Tea, coffee and biscuits for

all who attend and plenty of craic. Once a month we hold a raffle in an effort to raise funds for our club. New Members are required to attend 8 times per year, in order to qualify for trips, in the interest of fairness to existing members. A small donation may be required on occasion, but advance notice will always be given.

We applied for a local grant, which we thankfully received and put to good use. Erring on the side of caution. We visited Castleward in Downpatrick, 9 where Game of Thrones was programmed in part of the area, by the big tower… We visited Hannahs close in Kilkeel, which was an interesting and thoughtful day out. Our tour of the homeplace of Seamus Heaney the Author in Bellaghy, was enlightening and enjoyable. The garden of the Celtric Saints in Irvinestown, with its wooden carvings, depicting the History of Ireland is well worth a visit, and not too far away.

The club had its annual Christmas Dinner here at the Legion, where we enjoyed Bingo games , which is good for our brain and wellbeing, and goof fellowship. We have had guest speakers along occasionally, pertaining to interests of older people. We endeavour to maintain our current progress, and we will attend promotional days of other societies to encourage new members, and promote our club.

The club was invited to Woodford Hall for Christmas dinner, we were all made very welcome and had a wonderful time.

Thank you all for attending, thank you Cathy for carrying with out election, thank you to our special friends from SVP for faithful attendance. Thank you to all our club members for faithful attendance and continued support through out the year, it is much appreciated.

Treasurers Report for year ending 2023

The over 60’s Brolley Club had a very successful Year. The club secured funding of £6892.00 which was put to good use, on various trips for the Club. Bringing people together for Fun, Companionship and much needed respite from day-to-day living. We would like to thank our funders for making this happen, not forgetting our committee members who made this happen.

Our overheads remain the same, thanks to the generosity of the British Legion. There has Been a small increase in bank fees, that’s due to an increase in banking activity, the extra trips etc.

Raffle income has Increased this year to £349 from £169 from 2022, a great job from the committee and members alike for their donations and drive. Membership has also increased by £88.00. A huge welcome to our new members. Donations have also increased Significantly. Thank you to everyone who has contributed over the year.

The club always strives to Generate income where possible to keep the club afloat, donations towards trips have been a life line and as a result we are in a good position financially for the coming year. I would like to thank everyone for their continued support.
