The Trust's priinary activity continues to be the rehoining of cats and dogs and the advancenient ofaniinal welfare across
the North West of Ireland and SUiToiinding ai'eas.
Mission Statement

who have been neglected, abused, abandoned or are unwanted.
Objectives
The Chai'ity's objectives are specifically focused on the advancement of aniinal welfare and the proinotion of education
in inatters relating to aniinal welfare, care and treatinent for the beiiefit ofthe public in Northern Ireland and ils envii'ons
of the Republic of li'eland. Working alongside statutory authoi'ities, voluntaiy oi'ganisations and local cominunities, we
aim to..
a. relieve suffering, distress and maltreattnent of stray, neglected, unwanted or vulnerable animals requii'ing care and
protection thi'ough the provision of rescue and relioining sei'vices and sanctuaiy facilities foi. the care, protection,
treabnent, seclli'ity and temporary or pemianent accoininodation of such animals.
b. encourage the public to adopt a Inore coinpassionate attitude towards animals, pai1icularly those whicli ale sick, stray

Ensuring our work delivers our ailns
We conduct an annual review of our aims, objectives and activities. This process evaluates oiir achievements and
outcoines over tlie preceding twelve Inoiiths, assessing the success of key activities and the benefits delivered to those
we exist to serve. The review also ensures our aiins, objectives and activities i'emaii) aligned with olli. stated purposes.
The tt-ustees give paiticulw. consideration to how planned activities will contribute to achieving the aiins and objectives
we have established.
The Focus of our Work
Our pi'imary focus remains the i'ehon)ing of cats aiid dogs and advancing aniinal welfai'e throughout the Noith West of
Northern Ireland and suri'ounding areas. We are dedicated to impioving the lives of aniinals wilhiii Omagh and
neighboui'ing ¢oii)munities, which in turn benefits Ilie wider local population. Our coin1￿1￿￿entS include rescuing and
rehoining unwanted, neglected and abandoned aniina15' I'ehabilitating animals in oiir care. educating the public on aniinal
welfare Inatters; pi'oinotiiig neutei'iiig and spaying pi'ogramines. and advocating foi. legislative changes to prot¢cl
coinpanion aniinals. We collaborate willi otliei. agencies including local councils, dog wai'deiis ai)d Aniinal Welfare
Officers. We are also ineinbei's of ADCH (Association of Dogs and Cats Hoines), a pi'ofessional body pi'oinoting best

Public benefit statement
Purpose I
The dii-ect benefit of this work lies in relieving the burden on pet owners who find th¢inselves unable to conlinlle
caring foi. their animals, whilst also suppoi'ling individuals who encounter stray animals but lack the Ineans to cal'e
for thein. The positive out¢oines of oui. effoits are deinonstrated through oui. activities of accepting, nurturing and
finding new homes for abandoned and stray pets. Oui. services encoinpass veterinaiy trealiment, a rescue and adoption
systein, and where necessary, sanctuary facilities for rehoining, wliich we publicise lo eiicoui'age coinpassion and
kindness throughoiit the conimunity. Dui'ing the past year, we successfiilly I'ehoined 105 cats and dogs. This woi'k
significantly reduces fei'al cat populations, particularly on fai'ins, and alleviates sli'ess foi. both local residents and the
cats theniselves. This objective causes no harm and sel'ves the collective good of people aci-oss Northern Ii'eland.
Purpose 2
The dii'ecl benefits arising froin this purpose include th¢ advanceiment of aniinal welfare, the development of
coinpassion thi'ougli caring for injured 01- abandoned aniinals, and I'ecognition of tlie positive effects aninials have on
human healtl) and wellbeing. Encoui'aging kindness towai'ds aiiimals proinotes coinpassion in people. These benefits
al'e demonsti'ated thi'ough our weekly dog walking club, wliere Inembers of the public can exei'cise lioineless aniinals.
Grovehill Animal Ti'ust also welco]￿es and encoui'ages volunteers froin the genei'al public to assist with daily animal
cal'e at the sheltei.. Our volunteers come froin all walks of life and gain valuable woi'k experience al both the shelter
and shop. We woi-k with voliinteers who have leaiiiing difficulties oi. special needs, partnering closely with
oi'ganisations including Ai'valee School, Mencap and the Probation Sei'vice lo provide opportunities that might
otherwise be unavailable. Trainee vetei'inarians aiid aniinal welfare officers have gained experience at our shelter
before progressing to full-tin)e roles in theii. professions. Students from schools aci'oss Oinagh have also benefited
from work experience with us. This pui'pose gives i'ise to no harm. The beneficiaries are ineinbers of the genei'al
public in Northei'n Ireland and young people attending schools, colleges and oth¢i' youth organisations.
Purpose 3
The direct benefits of this purpose include the advancement of education and enhanced knowledge and Understanding
amoiig young people. These benefits al'e deinonstrated through Gi'ovehill Animal Trust providing placeinents for
students from both Inainstreain and special needs schools and colleges. We also provide literatui'e and deliver talks in
scliools, youtl) groups, suinmer scheines and other settings to promote responsible aniinal ownei'ship and educate
people about the iinpoitance and benefits of neutering anji￿al$. Additionally, we proinote the trapping, neutei'ing ai)d
i'elease of fei'al cats within the local coinmunity and provide financial assistance to those in need with fei'al cats. This
purpose gives rise to 110 harin. The beneficiories are membei's of tlie general public in Nol'thei￿ Ireland and young
people attending schools, colleges and othei. youth organisations.
Private Beneficiaries
Corry & O'Hai'e Vets, Omagh I'eceives a private benefit as they are paid for treating aniinals at Gi'ovehill Aniinal
Triisl. This benefit is incidental and a necessai'y by-product of cai'rying out puiyose one: lo i'elieve the suffe2.ing and
distress of stt'ay, neglected or unwanted aniinals. The benefit to the veterinary practice is private but incidental to the
charity's pui'poses, aiid tlierefoi'e there is no conflict of intei'est as it is a necessai'y but incidental by-product of
achieving oui. pui'poses.

Achievements and performance
Grovehill Education Programme
At Grovehill Animal Trust, educating tlie general public on all aspects of aniinal welfare is something we take very
seriously. We regularly receive telephone calls and emails froin the public regai'ding canine behavioural issues,
questions fi'oiT] first-tiine pet ownei's, and general pet care enqiiiries. Our team is always happy to pi'ovide guidance
and suppoit.
We offei. talk5 to schools, colleges and youth clubs throughout the area. Janice Blakley, Secretary, responds to
invilations and speaks with childi'en and young people about the I'ole of Grovehill Aniinal Trust in the local
cominunity, whilst also facilitating disciissions around responsible pet cai'e. We believe it is essential that the next
genei'ation undei'stand all aspects of pet ownership.
Our ediicational outreach ext¢nds to churches and othei. social settings, where we deliver pi-esentations on aniinal
welfare and the woi'k of the Trust. This cominunity engagement has proven invaluable in raising awareness and
fostering a culture of compassion towai'ds aniinals across the l'egion
Volunteer Development Programme
This yeai. we have focused on stt'engtliening our volunteer programine. We have implemented enhanced training and
induction pi'ocesses to eiisure all volunteei's are equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to provide excellent
care to our animals. The revised policies and procedui'es introdiiced last year have been einbedded across both the
shelter and charity shop operations, creating a Inore strllctui'ed and suppoitive environinenÉ for our dedicated team of
volunteei's.
Community Partnerships
We have continued to strengthen our relalionships with partner oi'ganisations including Ai'valee School, Mencap and
the Probation Service. These partnerships pi'ovide nieaningful oppoitunities for individuals who might not otherwise
have access to such experiences, whilst also siippoiting our daily operations. We al-e gi'ateful for the ongoing
collab017tion with these oi'ganisations and the positive impact tlie5e partnerships have on all involved.
ADCH Membership Inspection
This yeai. we are proud to report that Grovehill Animal Trust successfully passed our inspection by the Association
of Dogs and Cats Hoines (ADCH). As an ADCH IMember, we al'e requii'ed to deinonsti'ate coinpliance with tlieir
Minimuin Welfai'e and Operational Standards, which repi'esent besl pi'actice across the aniinal I'escue sector. The
inspection assessed all aspects of our opei'ation5 including animal adinission pi'ocedures, veterinary care protocols,
housing conditions, disease conlrol measures, i'elloming practices, staff and volunteer training, and recoi'd keepiiig.
Successfully meeting these I'igoi'ous standai'ds provides independent assui'ance to the public that animals in oui. care
receive the highest quality of welfare provision. We i'einain coininitted to Inaintaining and exceeding these
standards in the yeais ahead.
Review of activitie5 and future developments
The stateinent of financial activities for the year is set out on page 7 of the financial stateinents. The nel moveinent
in funds for the financial yeai. is a deficit of £19,971.
Reserves policy aiid results
The Gi'ovehill Aniinal Ti'ust had total I'eserves on 31 Mai'ch 2025 of £102,335.

Volunteers
The TrLlSt I'einain5 deeply grateful for the dedication and commitinent of it5 volunteers, who are central to the day-
to-day opei'ations of both the chai'ity shop and the shelter. Theii. invaluable contribution is fundainental to oui-
success.
This year, we have been fortunate to InaiJ]tain a strong volunteer base, with appi'oximately 31 individuals
generoiisly giving their lime and energy to support our Inission. Assuining each volunteei. contributes ai'ound 150
liours annually, and if these hoiirs were coinpensated at miniinum wage, the collective valiie of these voliinteer
houi's would exceed £53,196 per annuin. We ore iininensely gi'atefiil for this tremendous contribiition.
Looklng Ahead
This year has presented both challenges and opportunities for our shelter. Despite the obstacles we have faced, we
take pride in the progress achieved and reniain cominitted to delivering the highest standai'd of cal'e for the aniinals
entrusted to us. Looking ahead, we al'e enthusiastic about contiiiuing to expaiid oui. services and makiiig a lasting
positive impact on out. community

These financial stateinents have b¢en prepared on the going concern basis under the historical cost coiivention,
as Inodified by the valuation of investinents, and in accordance with Stateinei)t of Recommended Practice
applicable to chai'ilies preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable
in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) - (Charities SORP (FRS 102)), the Financial Reporting Standard
applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) and the Charities Act (Northern Ireland) 2008. The
principal accounting policies are set out below.
The presentation currency of the financial statements is the Pound Sterling (£).
Incoming resources
Incoining i'esources are mainly received by way of donations, gifts and sale of Inei'chandise and are included
in full in the stateinent of financial activitie5 upon receipt.
Resourees expended
All expenditure is accounted for on an accruals basis and has been classified under headings that aggregate all
costs related to tliat categoiy. Where ¢osts cannot be directly ath'ibuled to particular headings they have been
allocated to activities on a basis consistent with use of ihe resources. Staff costs aiid ovei'liead expenses are
allocated to activities on the basis of staff lime spent on those activities. The two main activity categorie5 al-e:

Designated funds comprise unrestricted funds that have been set aside by the trustees for particular purposes.
General fiinds inay be Iransferred to designated funds whei'e trustees wish to use these funds for a specific
purpose. Such funds Inay be transferred back to general funds once the criteria for the designation hav¢ been
Inet or are no longer applicable.
Resti'icted funds are funds which are lo be used in accordance with specific restrictions imposed by donors or
wliich liave been I'aised by the chai'ity for paiticiilar purposes. The cost of ¥aising and administering such funds
are charged against the specific fund. The aim and use of restricted funds is sel out in the notes to the financial
statements. Restricted funds may only be transferred to general oi. designated funds once the criteria for
restrictioii have been dischai'ged or no longer apply.

The pi'eparation of the financial stateinents I'equired Inanagement to make judgements, estimates and
