The inain focus of oui. woi-k continues to be t]ie i'e-homing of cats and dogs aiid to advance anunal welf￿'e in the Norih
West of Noilliern Th"elatid and its eiivu'oiis. We sts'ive to llnprove the lives of ￿]llnalS within Omagh and the SUL'rounding
areas aiid in turn have a positive effect upo]] Ilie local colD]n￿lIty. We are coimiiitted to die i'escuing and i'e-boining of
Iwanted, neglected, and abandoned anunals, the rehabilitation of said aijimals, the educatioii of the public in inattei-s
pertauiing lo a]lllnal welfare, the pi'omotion of Jieutering and spaying of anllnals and c&npaigning for changes in
legislation to protect coinpallion aniinals. We netwoi'k with other ageiicies, i.e., Local council, Dog wal'dens and Anllnal
Welfare Officers. In additioii, we are ineinbei's of ADCH (Association of Dogs and Cats Hoines), who are a professional
body wlio pi'omotes best practice in ansmal welf￿'e relatiiits to cat rehoining, dog relioining, dog i'escue & cat i'escue.

lo loolc after them. The positive outcoines of oui. efforts al'e evident in oui. activities of accepting, nui'tui'iiig, alid
fiiiding iiew hoines for both abandoned and stray pets. Oui. services include pi'ovidllig inedical treattnent, a system for
rescue and adoption, and, when necessary, a sancttiary for i'ehoining, which we publicise to eiicourage einpathy and
Icindiiess ainong the coi]ununity- Over the past year, we have success￿11Y provided new homes foi. 10 I cats and docrs.
This significaiitly reduces the population of feral cats, especially on fai'ins, and diminishes stiess foi. local people and
the cats themselves. This objective causes no hann and sel'ves the collective good of the people in Northern li'eland.

capacity of people for coinpassion by caring foi. injui'ed or abandoned animals and the effects of animals on huinan
health and well-being. The encoura(Tement of kindness towards aiillnals proinotes coinpassion ill humans. These
benefits are demonsts'ated t￿oUgh our weekly dog walking club where the geiiei'al public can coille and exei'cise
homeless animals. Grovehill Anunal Trust also relies oil and encourages volunteei's fi'orn the genei'al public to assist
with the daily caring of the aninials at the slieltei.. We have volunteers fi'oiii all wallcs of life, who gain gi'eat woi'k
expei-ience at the shelter aiid shop. We Iiave volunteeis with leai'ning difficulties or special iieeds, alld we work closely
with oi'gaiiisations including Arvalee School, Mencap and ihe pi'obation service to give voliinteei's oppoitunities tliey
Inight not othei'wise get. Ti'ainee vets and aniinal welfare officers have gained expei'ience al oui. shelter, gollig on to
woi'k fvll time lll their professions. Othei. students from all tlie inain schools in Ornagh have gained valuable woi'k
expei'ience ividi us too. This puipose does not give rise to any hann. Tlie beneficiaries of this puwose are the genei-al

Starting neiv dog i'uns
Due to the increasing nuinber of dogs requii'ing extended rehabilitatioii and longer stays, we identified the need for
additional dog runs al our sheltei-. To address this, we begaii by cleai'ing a designated area, layiiig foundatÉoiis, and
pourllig concrete for tlie iiew i'uns. We also installed a fence around the site foi. secui'ity. This woi'k toolc tlu'ee inonths
to complete. Once filiiding becoines available, we will pi'oceed with coiists'ucting a new dog shed. Upon coinpletion,
this project will double oui. kennel capacity, eiiabling us to accoiniiiodate mol'e dogs oii-site.

Unfoittjnately, oul. anllnal 8￿bUlance broke down, and we were advised that it needed to be replaced. The ainbulance
plays a crucial role in our operations, as it is esseiitlal loi. transporting aiillnals lo and froin the vet. As a i-esult, we had
no choice biit to pui'chase a iiew oiie.
Secui-ity and monitok. camei-2S
We installed seciirity and monitoring cainei'as at oui. aJJllnal slielter to enhaiice the safety and well-being of both the
anllnals and staff. These cainei-as provide 2417 sui.vei118nce, Iielpllig us to deter unauthoi'ized access and Inonitoi- the
pi-einises foi any potential security issues. Additionally, they allow us to keep a close watch on the aiiirnals, eiisuring
thell. care and safety eveii when staff is iiot physically present. This systeni is an iinportant step in pi'otecting our
shelter and ensui'ing a secure envll'ornnent for everyone involved.

We i'ecelltly conduoled a thorough review and i'evisioii of oui policies and pi'ocedures for both staff and volunteers at
the sheltei.. This process was alliied at ensuL'ing that all protocols al'e up-to-date, Cle￿., and aligned with best practices
lli anllnal C￿'e and shelter maiiagement. By revksing these guidelines, we have cl'eated a mol'e structured and efficiellt
woi'lcing envll.0￿lle￿t, enhancing safety. com]nunicatioii. and accountability. The updated policies also pi'ovide
cleai-er instructions and expectations foi. both staff and volunteers, helping us lliiprove tlie ovei'all quality of cal'e we
pi'ovide to the ankmals and fostei'ing a inoi'e cohesive team.

Oui. educational outreacli program remained a key focus, with talks in local schools, coininunity centres about tbe
impoitance of anijnal welfare and responsible pet ownership. These initiatives alln to inspire generations to

year, we were pleased lo see our volunteei. team ¢Ti'ow, with around 30 individuals genei'ously offei.ing theii. tllne

and effort to help us acliieve OUT inission. their services. Assuining each volunteer conts'ibutes about 150 Iiours
aniiually, and if these houi's were compensated at minllll wage, the collective contribution of these volunteer hours
would have cost Grovehill Animal Trust over £46,890 pei aTinum.
This year has been both challenging and i'ewardllig foi. our shelter.
