Governance

Templepatrick Reformed Church is governed by its elder(s), with the consent of the members of the congregation, in accordance with its written constitution. The constitution establishes its articles of faith (the London Baptist Confession of Faith 1689), states how it is governed by its officers and trustees, and provides its rules.

The church was first constituted in 1990. Its written constitution was first established for charitable purposes on 26[th] May 1992, and continues as revised from time to time (most recently on 13[th] March 2018).

The trustees of the charity and its property are Mr. Colin J W O Meikle (Elder), Mr. Samuel J Bell (Treasurer) and Mr. David Cinnamond.

The purpose of Templepatrick Reformed Church is:

The advancement of the Christian religion in accordance with the Church’s Confession of Faith: in the lives of church members; in the people of Templepatrick and neighbouring areas; and in people further afield as opportunity permits.

In regard to the governance of the charity, the officers and trustees have had regard to the Northern Ireland Charity Commission’s statutory guidance on the Public Benefit Requirement.

Report 2024-2025

Templepatrick Reformed Church gathered for public worship and prayer twice each Lord’s Day and once each Wednesday evening during 2024-25.

The congregation and visitors benefited from the ministry of the elder, Mr. Colin Meikle, and from six other Reformed pastors who regularly preached for the congregation as pulpit supply. The weekly ministry was published on-line on Sermonaudio throughout the year and was accessed by many hundreds of listeners from across the world.

Special monthly outreach meetings were held April 2024, May 2024, and November 2024 to March 2025 and these meetings were well attended, with regular new visitors, and opportunities for the Gospel.

During the year, there was one Congregational Meeting, namely the Annual Congregational Meeting, held on 25[th] September 2024, combined with a meeting of Trustees. There were also a number of church business meetings throughout the year to consider specific issues.

Financial Review 2024-2025

Templepatrick Reformed Church does not solicit or appeal for funds. All income is from the voluntary offerings of members, visitors and supporters, and from bank interest.

The finances of the congregation continue in a positive state. Income to the General Account amounted to some £31,532.49, and expenditure from that account was some £20,815.72, producing a surplus of some £10,716.77.

During the year the congregation financially supported the work of the Gospel in the form of donations to Arann Reformed Baptist Church, Dublin, the Trinitarian Bible Society, the Free Grace Evangelistic Association, Doxa Theo Christian School Aberdeen and Hudson Taylor Ministries.

During the year the church repaid £5,000 of interest-free loans. At the end of the financial year the church has some £20,715 of cash remaining, and it has fixed assets in the form of the new building and contents of £378,300. It also has debts of £15,000 to those who made interest-free loans for the completion of the church building in 2017.
