COALITION OF AID & DEVELOPMENT AGENCIES NORTHERN IRELAND ICADA NI) REPORT OF THE TRUSTEES FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 DECEMBER 2024 OBJECTIVES The objectives of the Coalition of Aid and Development Agencies Northern Ireland {CADA NI) are to promote the efficiency and effectiveness of our members and to advance the education of the public. inc5uding government ageDcie5. about international aid and development work CADA Nl has been very active over this last year in working towards these charrtable objectives. CADA is a small network of 19 development organisations. We rely. to a great extent, on the staff capacty and time given by our members to support our worK particularly by those who setve on our Management Committee. In particular. CADA was pleased to welcome three new members to its Management Committee in 2024. APPENDIX I: list of CADA Nl member organi5ations CONTEXT CADA throughout 2024, on behalf of and with support from our member5, has contlnued to raise awareness of Issues affetting the Global south to the general public and decision makers within Northern Ireland. This is an increasingly difficult task as global and local narratives throughout 2024 challenged the values that underpin our work towards global justice. Thi5 wa5 evidenced both in global medla narratives a5 well as within Northern Ireland as we witnessed racist and anti-immigrant on our streets in August. We are thankful however. that while highly visible, thls represents a minority of Nl society and CADA members continue to be supported, both financlally and In their campaignin& through the generosity and 501idarity of those across the region. Unfortunately, In early 2025, the International aid sector wa5 rocked by cuts, initially led by the incoming Trump reglme whlch evlscerated US Aid budgets and was unfortunately followed by cuts from other institutional donors most notably the UK who announced a reduction In Ald sper)ding from 0.5% of GNI to 0.3% of GNI. These cuts mark a dramatic shift in the global consensus around aid and their depth has profound implications for the world's most vulnerable communities. CADA members and our local partners are among those organlsations that have had to suspend lifesaving programmes as a result. Challenging these funding cuts and countering ne8atlve, and sometimes actively misleadin& narratives about Overseas Development Aid (ODA) has become a priority for CADA In 2025. KEY AGHIEVEPIIENTS 5fRATEGIC PLAN At the beginning of 2024. CADA developed a new Strategic Plan to run from 2024 to 2026. CADA members we onsulted through a network engagement event in January which outlined key priorities, and the Strategic Plan was confinned by members at our AGM in July of 2024. The plan has 3 key focus areas which CADA will work towards over a 3 year period: inspiring change, influencing national and regional poliry and supporting our npmnrk mpmhprs 4£ part nf niir stratP8ir Dlannine r)mr.ps% fAnA alsn tnnk timp to refle£1 on what it Gdn realistically achieve while remaining ambitlous in our aims. A5 a result a decision was tsken to not hold the One World Festival In 2024 while the Development Offir role remained vacanL However, CADA did contin4Je to engage its members through a range of events during 2024 including: our AGM whlch featured a talk from climate author Gaia Vince. a learning event on fundraisin8 and communications in an Nl context and a Christmas networkin8 event.
COALITION OF AID & DEVELOPMENT AGENCIES NORTHERN IRELAND ICADA NI) REPORT OF THE TRUSTEES FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 DECEMBER 2024 FUNDING CADA continues to be hugely appreclative to Bond and the UK Aid Alliance for fundlng through the FCDO. In 2024 this allowed us to recruit a Development Officer role, which 15 essential to supporting and en8a8lng wlth our members. Thls role will commence in early 2025 and will allow CADA to slgnificantly enhance the level of support it can provide to its members. In 2024, CADA, In conjunttion with Dochas and the Irlsh Development Education Association (IDEA), successfully applied for funding from the Shared Island Civic Society Fund for a project to enhance cross border learning and connectlon on Global cltizenship Education (GCE}. This projert, which will commence In 2025, will seek to Identify opportunities and overcome barrlers in lakin8 an all-island approach to GCE. ALL PARTY GROUP ON INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT The return of Stormont Institution5 in early 2024 has allowed for continued engagement with MLA'5 through the All Party Group on International Development (APGID) for which CADA acts as secretarlate. Thi5 ha5 been a key avenue for engaging and influencing duty bearS and decision Makers. The APGID met 5 tlmes in 2024, with an initial meetlng to identlfy themes and set a schedule, a meeting to formally constitute the APGID to discu55 issues such as Emergency Response and the Disasters Emergency Commlttee {DEC). Business and Human Rights and how devolved institutlons can play a role in international development. LOOKING TO 2025 During 2024. G4DA focused on both engaging and being infomied by our members as we formed a new strategi plan, Connetting members and in engaging wlth the All Party Group on International Development. In 2025 we look forward to the commencernent of our Development Ofricer role to asslst In the delivery of our new strategic plan. This wlll include building closer relationships and 5h?ring learnln8 Wlth our member organi5ations and other key stakeholders, continuing to ralse issues important to the sector and engage decision makers through the APGID and promoting awareness of global justice issues to the publlc through the One World Festival and other events. In particular, we look forward to a series of events on the global impacts of climate change featurlng author Gala Vince planned in May 2025, Including a keynote event held In partnership with the Institute for Global Food Security in Queens Unlverslty Belfast. However. It is a150 important to note that CADA and it5 members will In 2025 also be seeking to respond to the drastlc cuts in ODA that heve occurred Since the end of 2024. These cut5 have a direct, negatlve Smpact on the lives of the thousands of people that CADA member agencies work with and hi8hli8ht the importance of the work done by CADA'S members, not only in improving outcomes for vulnerable communitie5 in the Global South, but also in communicating the importance and nece55lty of that work to communltie5 across the north of Ireland. PUBUC BENEFIT CADA Nl f05ters collaboratlon between International development NGOS working in Northern Ireland and with their networks In Ireland and the rest of the UK. CADA Nl works to ralse awareness of international development Issues in Nl and to coordinate the actlvities of its member organisations to maximise the use of resources in the sector. This work is completed through organising public events and meetin85 of a variety of staff workin8 for memberorgani5ations.

CADA NI acts as a liaison between its members and UK, Irish and Eu-based international development networks to promote information sharin8. The trustees of CADA Nl have considered the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland's guidance on publlc benefit to ensure that the activities entered into during the year have helped to achieve the objectlves of CADA Nl as well as providlng publlc benefit. FINANCIAL REVIEW sr CADA'S totsl income for the year ended 31 Dec 2Q24 was £21,139, gained primarlly through 8rants (£18,652 secured from FCDO through the UK Aid Alliance) and membership fees. Total expenditure for the year amounted to £10,442. resulting in a surplus of £10,696. A portion of this surplus is fundinE given in advance under the FCDO Brant which will be carried forward for casts in 2025. Expenditure was lower due to the vacancy in CADA'S Development Officer posltlon as well as the declsion not to hold the One World Festival in 2024. CADA antlclpates expenditure will increase in 2025 with the recruitment of the Development Officer. CADA ended the year in a strong positlon wlth funding secured for key costs in 2025. GOING CONCERN The tru5tee5 have reviewed the budgets for the year ahead and are satisfied that there are adequate funds in place to ensure that CADA Nl can continue its activities and that the financial statements for the year ended 31 December 2024 can be sl8Ded off as a going concern.
