Th¢ aim of th¢ wur5e is engagement with those prisoners who have committed $¢rious off¢ncffj but who have come to faith in prisoffj their discipleship an(L if possible, integrntion into suitable ¢huTch %ttings, with full risk management arrangements in pla¢¢. Work continues in supporting church lead¢rs m4n4g¢ th¢ risks child s¢x off¢nders may pose in congregational setting4 this has included a case wh¢r¢ th¢ Probation se￿iCe referred an offender who wished to participate in a local ¢hur¢h. The public and statutory agencies benefit because support is available for the offenders in the evenings and weekends when the ag¢nGi¢s arc usually closed. Supported offenders arc also much safer isolated individuals. Church leadership tcam5 are benefitted by developing hands on skills in monitoring and Supporting potetitially dangerous individuals. whil¢ ensuring that all available protections are in place for vuln¢r&ble church memb¢rs and children. The offender5 themselves benefit throu8h engagement with support& sometimes with their own families, which giv¢s them a stake in society and inhibits reoffending. Reintegrating these lower risk offenders into a congregation whose leaders are prepared and inforned con51itut¢s a considerable public b￿¢fit.
