Donibristle Trust ort of the Trustees for the Year Ended 30 A rffil 2024 The trustees who are also directors of the charity for the purposes of the Companies Act 2006, present their report with the financial statements of the charity for the year ended 30 April 2024. The trustee5 have adopted the provisions of Accounting and Reporting by CharitiC5: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting SLindard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective l January 2019). OBJECTIVES AND ACTIvrrIES Objectives and aims The company's purposes are set out in the objects contsTned in the companys Memorandum of Association. The Trust was established for th¢ advancement of the Evangelical Christian Faith, the advancement of education, the relief of poverty and the relief of sickness. The doctrlnal basis of the Trust is also set out in tlic coiiipaiiy'3 Mcinoraiiduin of Association. The Trust carries out these objectives by providing financial assistance and practical support to various charitable projects throughout the year. as well as giving strategic. legal and business advices and training where required. The availability of grants will depend on whether the application meets the objectives and aims of the Trust, and the availability of appropriate funds. The activities of the Trust are reviewed on an annual basis to ensure that they reflect the company's objectives and aims and that they advance public benefit. ACHIEVEMEIYT AND PERFORMANCE Charitable activities The Trust continued to provide financial assistance and strntegic advices to a number of charitable projects throughout the year on a global scale. Financial support and advices have been provided to charitable projects working to advance the Christian faith and alleviate poverty and sickness in Indi Bangladesh. Nepal, South Afric4 Uganda, Burkina Faso and Europe. A small number of grants have also been made available to local charitable projects in Northern Ireland and the UK. In total, grants of £181,545 were made during the year. FINANCLIL REVIEW Fin2nei21 position The Trust's work is entirely reliant on personal donations, returns on investments and other surplus income. Donations which have been given towards a specific project are treated as Restricted Funds and should only be utilised as designated. The company suffered a deficit of £23.672 during the period. There was a balance in reserves at the end of the year of £190,766. of which £61.265 are restrictcd funds. FUTURE PLANS The membei's of the Committee wish to continue to fulfil th¢ objectives and aims of the company, subject to funding restraints. in providing financial assistance and practical support to various charitable projects both locally here in Northern Ireland. in Europe and worldwide. Donibristle Trust ort of the Trustees for the Year Ended 30 A ril 2024 STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AJYD MANAGEMEIYT Governing document The charity is controlled by its goveming do¢umenL a deed of trusL and constitutes a limited company, limited by guarantee, as defined by the Companies Act 2006. The Trust is a company limited by guarantee, incorporated on 18th April 2000, registered with The Charity Commission for Northern Ireland NIC101313. and recognised as a charity by HM Revenue & Customs, reference nutnber XR36105. The company was established under a Memorandum of Association which established the objects and powers of the company and 15 governed under its Articles of Association. The Trust was ¢stablish¢d by a small number of members wishing to provide financial and strategic &ssistance to various charitable projects, primarily for the advancement of evangelical Christian faith. the relief of poverty and the advancement of education. The Trust does not actively fundraise, and seeks to continue the charitable work desired by donors through personal donations and the careful stewardship of its existing resources. The directors of the company are also charity tru5t¢es for the purposes of chaTity law and under the Company's Articles of Association are known as members of the Management Committee. The Management Committee are responsible for the strategic direction and policy of the charity. New members are appointed to the Committee by the existing members at the Annual General Meeting. At each Annual General Meeting, one-third of the members of the Committee (or the number nearest to one third) shall retire from office. The Members of the Commtttee to retire shall be those who have been longest in office since their last election or appointment. A retiring member of the Management Committee is eligible for re-election. The Trust may from time to time in General Meeting increase or reduce the number of members of the Management Committee and deterniine in what rotation such increased or reduced number shall go out of officc, and may makc thc appointmcnts necess(ry for effecting any such increase. The Members of the Management Committee meet together from time to time, and at least once a year, to agree the broad strategy and areas of activity for the TrusL including consideration of grant makin& investments, and use of reserves. The day to day administration of donations and will be delegated to one of more members of the Committee. All members of the Management Committee give of their time and expertise on a voluntary basis and receive no remuneration or benefits from the charity. Members of the Committee are also required to disclose all relevant interests and register them with the Committee, and may be required to withdraw from decisions where a conflict of interest arises. The Management Committee have conducted a review of the major risks to which the company is exposed and revtew those risks on an annual basis. Where appropriate. systems OT procedures have been established to mitigate the risks faced by the charity. The Management Committee consider that the major operational risk is that funds are allocated appropriately and in line with the wishcs of donors. Donibristle Trust Notes to the Financial Statements for the Year Ended 30 A ril 2024 ACCOUNTING POLICIES Basis of preparing the financial statements The financial statements of the charithble company, which 15 a publlc benefit entity under FRS 102, have been prepared in accordance with the Charitie5 SORP (FRS 102) 'Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Ftnancial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective l January 2019),. Financial Reporting Standard 102 'The Financial Reporting Standard applicable tn the UK and Republic of Ireland, and the Companies Act 2006. The flnancial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention. Income All income is recognised in the Statement of Financial Activities once the charity has entitlement to the funds, it is probable that the income will be received and the amount can be measured reliably. Expenditure Liabilities are recognised as expenditure as soon as there is a legal or constructive obligation committing the charity to that expenditure, it is probable that a transfer of economic benefits will be required in settlement and the amount of the obligation can be measured reliably. Expenditure is accounted for on an accruals basis and h&s been classified under headings that aggregate all cost related to the category. Where costs cannot be dIrtIY attributed to particular headings they have been allocated to activities on a b&sis consistent with the ot"resources. Grants offered subject to conditions which have not been met at the year end date are noted as a commitment but not accrued as expenditure. Tangible fixed asscts Depreciation is provided at the following annual rates in order to write off cach &sset over its estimated useful life. Investment property Investment property is shown at most retent valuation. Any aggregate Surplus or deficit arising from hanges in fair value is recognised in the Statement of Financial Activities. TaxatioD The charity is exempt from corporation tsx on its charitable activities. Fund accounting Unrestricted funds can be used in accordance with the charitable objectives at the discretion of the trustees. Restricted funds can only be used for particular restricted purposes within the objects of the charity. Restrictions arise when specified by the donor or when funds are raised for particular restricted purposes.
