Independent examiner's report to the eharity trustees of Derry Masonic Fund
We report on the accounts of the Derry Masonic Fund for the year ended 31 December 2024,
which are set out on pages 5 to 6.
Respective responsibilities of eharity trustees and examiner
As the charity's trustees you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance
with the Charities Act (Northem Ireland) 2008.
It is our responsibility to..
examine the accounts under section 65 of the Charities Act
follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions given by the Cornmission
under section 65(9)(b) of the Charities Act
state whether particular matters have come to our attention.
Basis of independent examlner's report
We have examined your charity accounts as required under section 65 of the Charities Act
and our examination was carried out in accordance with the general Directions given by the
Charity Commission for Northern Ireland under section 65(9)(b) of the Charities Act.
Our examination included a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a
Cornparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also included consideration of
any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from you as
charity trustees concerning any such matters.
Our role is to state whether any material matters have corne to our attention giving us cause
to believe:
l. That accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 63 of
the Charities Act
2. That the accounts do not accord with those accounting records
3. That the accounts do not comply with the accounting requirements of
the Charities Act
4. That there is further infonnation needed for a proper understanding of the
accounts to be reached.

We have completed our examination and have no concerns in respect of the matters ( l ) to (4)
listed above and, in connection with following the Directions of the Charity Commission for
Northern Ireland, we have found no matters that require drawing to your attention.

Derry Masonic Fund is governed by a constitution dated 9 March 201 I, accepted as a
charity by HM Revenue & Customs under reference number XN45709 and registered with
Ih
the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland on 13 January 2015 under charity number
NIC101294.
The charity's purposes are detailed within the constitution and can be summaries as;
l. To afford assistance to deserving, necessitous Freemasons, or their wives% partners
and families and widows, partners and families of deceased Brethern.
2. To afford assistance to other duly constituted Masonic Charities.
3. To make donations to Non-masonic Charities.
The Trustees have had regard to the Public benefit guidance issued by the Charity
Commission for Northern Ireland.

During the year ended 31 December 2024 the charity has conducted the following activities
in furtherance of its activities for the public benefit;
l. Awarded seventy-two small grants to deserving widows of deceased brethren.
These grants have been used by the individual recipients to mitigate, all be it in a
small way, additional living costs incurred around Christmas.
2. Extended 2 grants of assistance on the grounds of ill health or disability to
brethren and the families of brethren to assist with the provision of suitable
equipment and adaption of accommodation, or the additional living costs
&ssociated with their disability.
3. Extended 4 grant of assistance on the grounds of economic hardship to brethren
and the families of brethren whose change in circumstances had resulted in a
reduction in income or one-off unexpected expense.
The results of the charity's activities during the year and of its position at the yearend are
included in the Receipts and payments account on page 5 and the Statement of assets and
liabilities on page 6. The trustees are thankful for the support of the brethren forniing the
membership of the charity and their guests, through their continued generous donations
which are used to further the charity's purposes, which have been detailed above.
