Independent examiner's report to the charity trustees of Derry Masonic Fund
We report on the accounts of the Derry Masonic Fund for the year ended 31 December 2022.
which are set out on pages 5 to 6.
Respective responslbllltles of eharity trustees and examiner
As the charity's trustees you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance
with the Charities ALt (Northern Ireland) 2008.
It is our responsibility to:
examine the accounts under section 65 of the Charities Act
follow thc procedures laid down in the general Directions given by the Commission
under scction 65{9)(b} of the Charities Act
state whether particular matters have come to our attention.

and our examination was carried out in acLordance with the general Directions given by the
Charity Commission for Northem Ireland under section 65(9)(b) of the Charities Acl.
Our examination included a review of the aoLounting records kept by the charity and a
compari&ion of the accounts presented with those records. 11 also included consideralion of
any unusual iterns or disclosurcs in the accounts, and sccking explanaLions from you as
charity trustees concerning any such matters.
Our rolc is to stale whether any material matters have come to our attention giving us cause
to believe:
l. That accounting record5 were not kept in accordance with section 63 of
the Charities Act
2. That the accounts do not accord with those accounting records
3. That the accounts do not comply with the accounting requirements of
the Charities Act
4. That there is further inforn]ation needed for a proper undeTStanding of the
accounts to be reached.

Dery Masonic Fund is governed by a constitution dated 9th March 2011, accepted as a charity by
HM Revenue & Customs under reference number XN45709 and registered with the Charity
Commission for Northern Ireland on 13th January 2015 under charity number NIC 101294.
The charity's puryoses are detailed within the constitution and can be summaries as.
l. To afford assistance to deserving, necessitous Freemasons, or their wives, partrAers
and families and widows. partners and families of deceased Brethern.
2. To afford assistance to other duly constituted Masonic Charities.
3. To make donations to Non-masonic Charities.
The Trustees have had regard to the Public benefit guidance issued by the Charity Commission
for Northern Ireland.

During the year ended 31 December 2022 the charity has conducted the following activities in
furtherance of its activities for the public benefit;
l. Awarded s¢v¢nty five small grants to deserving widows of d¢c¢as¢d brethren. These
grants have been used by the individual recipients to mitigate, all be it in a small way,
additional living costs incurred around Christmas.
2. Extended two grants of assistance on the grounds of ill health or disability to brethren
and th¢ families of brethren to assist with the provision of suitable equipment and
adaption of accommodation, or the additional living costs associated with their
disability.
3. Extended two grants of assistance on the ￿OundS of economic hardship to brethren
and the families of brethren whose changie in circumstances had resulted in a
reduction in income or one-off unexpected expense.
The results of the charity's activities during the year and of its position at the year end are
included in the Receipts and payments account on page 5 and the Statement of assets and
liabilities on pag¢ 6. The trustees are thankful for the support of the brethren forniing the
membership of the charity and their guests, through their continued generous donations which
are used to further the charity's purposes, which have been detailed above.
