ANNUAL REPORT FOR HELPING OTHERS WORLDWIDE 01/05/25 Isobel Carrick

Here is an outline of the work of ‘Helping Others Worldwide’ for the year 2024/2025:

.

- e At the beginning of 2024, the 40’ container which had been shipped to help equip a new medical and maternity clinic in Ziguinchor, Senegal the previous November was docked in the port at Dakar. This clinic is under construction, led by Tenebou and Bethan Manga, who serve with Unevangelised Fields Mission (UFM). Contents included steelwork for the roof of the clinics, along with a large amount of hospital equipment, medical consumables, and many other provisions to meet the needs of the people living in this remote region, with practically no medical resources currently available. After much negotiation, the container was finally released in May, and made its way to the clinic. Unfortuately, the crane hired to unload it in Ziguinchor was too small, and it overturned, smashing into the container. Miraculously, a very small percentage of the load was damaged, and the rest was intact, including the valuable and essential materials for the roof.

- e In June, a team of men, including Ernest, William and Gavin, three members of the HOW committee, went out to erect the roof on the medical and maternity clinics. Despite the very tight time frame due to so many obstacles and delays, God enabled this massive task to be completed literally minutes before the start of the rainy season. We praise Him for keeping the team safe, and helping at every stage of the project.

- e As 2024 was the 25 Anniversary of the formation of HOW, a Thanksgiving Service was held at the Faith Mission Centre, Portadown in September. The Manga family from the Clinic in Senegal were in the UK on furlough, and they were our main speakers. Around 200 people attended this wonderful time of praise, and were treated to a beautiful meal afterwards which had been kindly provided by some of our supporters. We were overwhelmed by the freewill offering of more than £6,000 on the day! It is amazing to think of the handful of people who started out on this journey in a small garage 25 years ago. God has been so faithful!

- e In November, a 40' container was shipped to the work of Ambassadors Sport in Thies, Senegal. This will help to equip Robert and Kyla Cuthbert and the team as they reach out to the locals through the medium of sport. Included in the load was fencing for the compound, sports equipment, clothing, bedding, toiletries, etc. This container arrived in port in January 2025 and was released with no problems. It proved to be a wonderful blessing, as Robert and Kyla had just moved into a new area, and they quickly became very well known and respected throughout the region as literally hundreds of people came to receive materials.

.

- e When the opportunity arises HOW has donated occasional parcels of baby materials to be carried by hand to South East Asia to assist workers there as they reach out to people in the remote villages. It is looking likely that this will continue to be possible.

- e In April 2024 it was decided that two of our committee members, Gavin Edgar, and his wife Clare, along with William Purdy and his wife Hazel, should be accepted as co-helpers for the work of HOW in a practical way. They continue to be involved in helping in many different ways, and we anticipate this increasing further as we meet and plan together how they can share the load.

- e Several new requests are currently under discussion regarding the next container to be advertised, organised and shipped in 2025.

- e The committee have continued to meet regularly to plan and discuss all aspects of the work.

- e Our dedicated team of workers have continued to assist in sorting, counting, listing and packing materials throughout the year. We are very appreciative of their help and their encouragement.

- e Financial donations for the work have continued to be supplied in an amazing way. These have been used for transportation of the containers and to purchase some specific items requested which fulfil the aims and objectives of ‘HOW.’

- e We continue to keep our Networkers updated about the work through regular correspondence and speaking at meetings.

- e We are thankful to God for His constant faithfulness throughout another year.
