Structure, Governance and Management

Governance The club is governed by seven trustees who are
supported by a management committee and
experienced football coaches

Membership of organisations Holywood FC (HFC) has two teams in the
Northern Amateur Football League and two in
the Down Area Winter Football League.
HFC is affiliated to the Irish Football Association
(IFA), Co. Antrim Football Association and the
Down Area Winter Football League.
Trustees & volunteers All trustees and volunteers give their time freely
and no remuneration ispaid.

Objectives and Activities

Summary of the club’s objectives HFC welcomes players from all communities &
backgrounds and aims to provide a safe &
enjoyable environment for them to learn &
develop their potential soccer skills. The club
achieves this by providing the players with the
facilities to interact on both a one-to-one basis
and also within a team environment through
experienced coaches & formerplayers.
Summary of the main activities undertaken for
the public benefit in relation to those objectives
The club provides safe facilities to allow
approximately 70 senior players from the local
community / surrounding area to enjoy football
in a well supervised environment regardless of
race, religion or perceived ability.
The club encourages its members to:

Foster, develop and promote the game of
football in Holywood and its surrounding
area.

Assist in the development of sportsmanship
and community spirit.

Respect its codes of conduct, coaching
guidelines and playing regulations.

Participate and support football
competitions within the local area and under
the jurisdiction of the relevant football
authorities.
Additional objectives & activities A considerable personal contribution is made by
coaches and volunteers each season. The
Trustees are grateful for the huge commitment
that is made by everyone within the club. Time is
given freelybyall our members.
Future plans The Trustees & coaches will continue to ensure
that a structure is in place to support all its
members and to progress any future
development of the club. HFC will continue to
develop its volunteers with the best in training
and seek to further expand the club.

Achievements & performance

Summary of the main achievements
A highly successful season for the club saw
the First team promoted to Division 1A of
the NAFL and the Third team promoted to
Division 1 of the DAWFL.

A newly formed Fourths team, competing in
the Reserve 2 division of the DAWFL, missed
promotion on goal difference

The four teams fulfilled their expected
league & cup fixtures in addition to a full
programme of pre-season friendlies.

Sponsorship of the club remained strong
with c50% allocated to new kit and
equipment

Financial review

Review of income & expenditure The Club recorded a surplus of £1.5k for the
year. Total income increased to almost £28k
primarily due to a fundraising quiz that
generated over £4k. Players subscriptions
increased to £10.5k and Gate Receipts increased
by more than £1k on the previous year to almost
£3k.
Costs decreased by £2.5k to £26k. Pitch hire at
just over £10k was again the highest expense.
Referee fees increased to £4k.
At 31 March 2024 the club’s bank & cash balance
totalled £8,399.40, all of which was unrestricted
funds. These funds are held to meet all planned
& unforeseen expenditure that may occur and to
assist with the on-going development of the
club.
Financial review details The club’s main sources of funding came from
sponsorship, the quiz event and players’
subscriptions with some additional self-
generated fundraisingactivity.
