The Purpose of The Cope Primary School PTA :

The charity has given careful consideration to the Charity Commission guidance on public benefit to ensure that the activities entered into during the year have helped to achieve the charities objectives and activities, as well as providing public benefit'.

Summary of the Charity’s main activities to further its purposes for the public benefit and the main achievements / targets achieved in the year

The purpose of the association is to advance the education of pupils in the school; in particular by:

The main activities of the association are to raise funds for the school through a variety of different events throughout the school year. Events have included a raffle, and summer social as well as donations at events.

Main achievements in the year:

Monies raised in the 2022/23 school year went towards upkeep of the new school app, teddies for the incoming P1s and prizes for sporting events.

Statement that the Trustees have had regard to the Commission’s Public Benefit requirement:

The Cope Primary School PTA have regard to the commissions public benefit requirement as the charity has improved relationships between home and school. The benefit, which flows from this purpose, includes: funding for additional resourced for the school and links built with the local community. This is demonstrated through having an active PTA that works in partnership with the school and engages parental support. This purpose does not lead to harm. The benefit is for children who are pupils at The Cope Primary School. Charity trustees are also parents at the school, which the children attend and hence gain a benefit in the same way as other beneficiaries. This benefit is incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to all beneficiaries.

Advancing the education of Pupils. The benefit which flows from the purpose also include increased educational progress and attainment of pupils in the school and links built with the community. This is demonstrated through pupils having access to resources, events, activities and links within the local community, which are not available through direct school funding.

A review of the Charity’s financial position at the end of the year

The treasurer’s report for 2022/23 outlines the detail of this but the closing balance of The Cope Primary School PTA at 31 June 2023 was £6,195
