Chairperson'5 Report As the Chairperson of the G lenavy Youth Project over the past 12 months we have been busy. It's been productive. demanding, rewarding but most of all worthwhile. The Centre has been used more than ever over the past 15 years, now opon 6 ever)i ngs per week, for activities like Qrop in Centre, Junior & Jinter Youth Clubs, Seniors, Youth Committee and Outreach Work on the streets just 3 few examplps. We aro fortunate to have thi5 facility available for local young peoplo and it is evident how necessary it is for our community when we See how much it 15 being used. Capacity Building, training and development remains an important part of the ethos of the GYP. Throughout this year tho youth workers have targeted the young people that were less engaged by working oul on the street5 during weekends until 11.00pm. From th15 we have created a relationship that tackles antl-50cial behaviour and has actively gained the trust of the young people, Every Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evenlngs we hove had programmcs running, with over 20 young people wlth the aim of addre551 matters that are affecting them. This has proved VLify succe55ful a5 the. young peoplv have. gained many qualifications addressi n8 issues such as drugs/alcohol suicide awareness, team buildin8 skills and sexual hpalih trJining (Ind First Aid. Due to hi8h demand for the courses there will be moro pro8rammes planned for the coming months.
