The trustees present their report with the fllkllcial statements of the charity for the year ended 30 September 2025. The
tTUStee5 have adopted the provisions of Accounting and Reporting by ChaTilies.' Siatement of RecoJwnended Practice
applicable to charities preparing their accounts sn accordance with Ibe Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the
UK and Republst of Ireland (FRS 102) (effectiv¢ l January 2019).

Main Activities
Mid Down Multiple Sclerosis Support Group provides a range of support services to fftdividuals lsving witb multiple
sclerosis. their families aDd carers. These services include infonnation, b¢friendiDg. usei-led group& newo
physiotherapy, reflexology for tb05¢ with MS. Mid Down Muliiple Sclerosis Support Group also supports research into
the causes and treattneDt of MS.
To support these seTvices financially, Jmid Down Multiple Sclerosis Support Group receives donations from the general
public and businesses mainly in County Down and thrDughout Northern Ireland. Mid Dow) Multiple S¢lerosis Support
Group also carries out a range of fiitjdraising activities including quines, afternoon teas and a range of one off events
througbout each year.
Beneficiaries
Mid Down Multiple Sclerosis Support Group 5ervice5 are available to anyone living with MS, tbeiT families and
throughout the County Down and Belfast area. You have to be a member of Mid Down Multiple Sclerosis Support
Group to use our seTvices.
Some service5 require a contribution towaTds the cost.

OBJECTIVES AE4D ACTIVITIES
Public benefit
The trustees are confident that the charitable 8irn5 of Mid Down Multiple Sclerosis Support Group satisfy the principles
of public benefit as def]ned in the Charities Act. They have referred to the guidance contained in the Charity
Con]]nission's general guidanc6 on public benefrt when reviewing the aims and objectives and in planning its future
activities.
How the charity activities deliver publi¢ benefit
The charitable activities focus on supporting the Reeds of people with MS, and are undertakell to fvrther the ¢haTltable
PLLfp05es for the public benefit.
The principal aim of the charity is that of providing information, advice and guidance to people affected by MS and that
of providing a Tange of complimentary therapies including retlexology 2nd neuro physiotherapy, as well as weekly
exercise class for people with MS. Monthly drop in group meetings are also facilitated. Annual ￿ndIng for medical
research towards better treatment of, and finding & cure for, multiple sclerosis is also ulldertaken by tILe Mid DOM
Multiple Support Group.
The tswtees believe equal acces5 to its services is vital to its success, and that successful outco]nes must be shared by all
Coll￿Unities that use its seTvices.

ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE
Charitable activities
Review of activities
The Mid Down Multiple Sclerosis Support Group continues to focus ou producing outcomes which brtng real and
tangible benefits to the MS community. At all times, the Mid Down Multiple Sclerosis Support Group maintaÈns it5
constant ¢on]mitment to developin& the range and quality of support offered to iDdividuals living with multiple sclerosis
throughout County Down.
The drive and deternliDation of Mid Down Multiple Sclerosis Support Group to maintain its level of service delivery and
look at the development of new servlces which can only happen with the continuing support of the Mid Down Multiple
Sclerosis Support Group Comtnittee and its voluDteer5.
The charity delivers its services direcily to people to provide inforniation, friendship 2nd support as well as to reduce the
isolation felt by many of those living with multiple scler05is. The Mid Down Multiple Scl¢rosis Support GTOUP also
focuses on the specific needs of MS suffereis within the County Dowll and Belfast area.
The Msd Down Multiple Sclerosis Support Group continues its excellent relationships with local GPS. This is an
effective way of raising awareness of our services and reaching out to th05¢ in need of assistance as well as receiving
referrals from these practitioners.
Infonnation
Our iDfonnation leaflets continue to be the comerstone of our printed information service. They are distributed to
medical centres, GP 5ur8¢ries. community cetLtres and on request by individua15. We also provide this inforniation at all
Mid Down Multiple Sol¢rosis Support Group events duruig the year.
The Mid DOWTL Multiple Sclerosis Support Group web51te also conttnued to ￿0W in importance ali)ng with our presence
on social Tnedia, including Facebook and Twitter. Th¢ website is used to provide infol￿atIon about multiple sclerosis as
well as up to date infortnation about Mid Down Multiple Sclerosis Support Group services and event5.
Social media allows the Mid Down Multiple Sclerosis Support Group to connect directly with members and supporters
and to gain valuable and iT]vnediate feedback about Cu￿ent issue5 affecting the MS community. As more and more
young people are dIa￿oSed with multiple sclerosis. this medium call on]y increase in irnportan¢e.
Assistance
The Mid Down Multiple Sclerosis Support Group know5 there are tllnes when we all feel overwhelmed with our own
particular situation. There seems to be no way out. It is at times lthe these that the Mid Dovffl Multiple Sclerosis Support
Group is there to help and 5UPPOrt people. They will meet with ￿e￿berS to discuss any issues they might have and
support them in tnaking decisions about the best way forward in their own particular csrcuinstances. They will a150 assist
them by putting theTn in contact wilh the correct peT50tI to offer tILem the best advice.
Reflexology
The Mid Dowi MS Support Group Continues to pmvide reflexology treatments in variou3 locations throughout County
Down. In keeping with all Mid Down Multiple ScleTQSiY Support Group seNices this service is partly fvnded by the
gtOLLP
Meetings
Group meetings are held once a month with exception of January in a centrally located premises where rnernber5 can
rneet to discuss current Issues with people in a similar sI￿atIOn to themselves. These meetings are held on the r￿St
Wednesday of every month in BallynahiDCh.

Twice yearly lllncheons are held for r0e￿berS and their fami]y mernbers to join togetber and reali5e that there is support
out there for them to discuss any sytnptoms, issues or problems they ]nay be experiencing. These luncheon club5 proved
to be very popular, well attended and much appreciated.
KeseErch
The vision of Mid Down Multiple Sclerosis Support Group is for a cure for multiple sclerosis is ever present and over
the years we have supported medical research work at Queens University. In this way. we join with the world community
in seeking a cure.
Medical research also contributes lo the task of fjnding better treatmen15 whkeh will offer respite and comfort to those
who have to live with MS.

The financ￿al position of the charity can be fouT)d on pages 7 and 8.
Principal fullding sources
The principal fijnding sources for the charity are currently fro]n membership fees, donations and fundTaising activities.
lllvestmeRt policy and objective5
The Trnstees have decided that any reserve5 should be invested in secure baTJk deposits. The Trustees ¢on5ider the
overall return on deposit accounts to be disappointin& but are not willing to place valuable resowces in riskier
investtnents.
Reserves poliey
Due to the unpredictsbility of the inco]ne receivable by the charity it is the policy of Msd Down Multiple S¢lerosis
Support Group to maintain a balance on unrestricted fLU)ds to ¢over c￿ergencY sithations that arise froto t]￿¢ to li￿¢
and to also enabl¢ the Gharity to continlle to deliver its service effectively.
The present level of reserves available to the ch￿lty is £69,631.
FUTURE PLANS
The charity plans continuing the aGtLVlties outlined above in tlke forthcoming years subject to gatisfying fijllding
aTrangements.
STRUCTURL GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMEf4T
Governing document
The charity is controlled by its governing document, a deed of trust and constitutes all unincorporated charity.
Recruitment and appointment of new trustees
A broad mix of business, professional and other skills are well represented on the Managetnent Committee and all
Trustees aTe chosen on the basis of their Willin￿e￿ to serve. ability. governance experience and support of the ethos,
mission and philosophy of the org8nisation.
Rfisk management
The trustees have a duty to identify and review the risks to which the charity is exposed and to ensure appropriate
controls are in place to provide reasonable assurance against fraud and error.

Basis of preparing the fingncial statements

accordance with the Charities SORP (FRS 102) 'Accounting and Reporting by Charities.. Statement of
Recotnmended Practice applicable to charities prep8Ting their accollnts in accordance with the Financial
Reporting Standard applicable in th¢ UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102} (effective l January 2019),.
