Purposes of the charlty
The object of the Fund is for the relief of such widows and dependents of deceased Orange
Brethren in necessitous circumstances (whether or not such deceased Brethren had been
members of Lodges which are members of the Fund} as the General Committee of the Fund
shall decide and in any manner which the Gener81 Committee of the Fund shall decide.

Activities
The Fund makes grants to the widow or the offspring (where the widow is already deceased)
of any member of the Orange Institution. Grants are given at Ihe time of death towards the cost
of funeral expenses and each Christmas where there is financial need.

Public benefit
The direct benefits which tlow from the grants given to widows are the help they provide towards
funeral costs and at Christmas. helping with costs that are incurred for the widow's children and
relieving distress. Amounts given in grants to widows of deceased members are not of such
amount that they would lead to widows being ineligible for the receipt of welfare
benefits. The beneficiaries are the widows of deceased members of the various Orange
Lodges within the jurisdiction of the City of Londonderry Grand Orange Lodge.
In setting our objectives and planning our activities for the year the trustees have given careful
consideration to the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland's guidance on public benefit to
ensure that the activities have helped to achieve the charity's purposes and provide a benefit
to the beneficiaries. Our aims, objectives and activities are reviewed, monitored and assessed
through our ongoing programme of regular committee meetings. The committee is made up of
individuals within the statutory, business, voluntary and community sectors.
Achievements and erformance
During the year the Fund was in receipt of an increased level of donations and gift aid to the
previous year and therefore was in a position to continue to pay out grants.

The trustees are pleased to report an improved financial position at the year end with net assets
of £98,508.

The governing document of the charity is its constitution which sets out the charity's purposes.
The charity is registered with the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland.

The Fund is administered by a General Committee who are trustees of the charity for the
purposes of Charity Law. The trustees have the power to appoint a new trustee to fill a vacancy.
