REVIEW OF ACTIVITIES AND ACHIEVEMENTS
January – December 2023
Boccia Competitions
Throughout the year our Boccia Team train in the Short Strand Community Centre and at St Bridget’s Hall Antrim. The team take part in competitions all over Northern Ireland. This has resulted in numerous prizes over the year. Two of our Boccia members were invited to an all-Ireland competition lasting two days in Dublin. It resulted in the two receiving medals, one for coming in 3[rd] in a open group, and the other came 2[nd] in the BC4 group.
Death of our chairman and good friend of the Polio Fellowship
In April our chairman, Bobby Doughty, after a long illness passed away. This came as a big shock to all our members. As Bobby was a long term and well respected member it was decided to honour his memory by planting a tree in the grounds of the Culloden Hotel Estate. It was beautiful day to honour a much loved person.
Annual NI Polio Fellowship Games May 2023
Our annual games held in May at the Everglades Hotel, Derry. We had 34 attending these games. Everyone was able to take part in either Boccia, Indoor Bowls, Ping Pong, or various table games.
Annual NI Polio Fellowship Dinner
Members and Guest attended our annual Dinner. This event is always well attended, and this year was no exception with a total of 62. We always have a good response as far as ballot tickets are concerned.
Annual Barbeque
Another great turnout to a very popular event.
