The accounts have been prepareL1 in accordance wlh the accounting policies sel oul in note 1 to accounts
and comply with the Coleraine and District Soclely of Model Engineer5's Memorandum. the Companies Act 20(
and 'A¢counling and Reporting by Charib"es." Sialement of Recommended PraclJ'¢e applicable lo chanlies
preparing Iheir accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK aThJ Republic
of Ireland IFRS 1021 (effective 1 January 20151.
Objectives and actlvltl¢s
The principal activity ol the company conlinued lo be that of providing facilities for the conslructlon and operation
ol models of railway locomolives of all kinds.
The company's obj6¢bve is to educale the public, from school age to adult, In the history and develokynenl ol
railway Ictomolion by the use of working model steam rallway locomotives and demonslralion of other englnes
and vehicles ol the steam era.
The aim of the company is lo provide the public wth an insight into the development of railway travel and
achievements of our fore falhers by the use ol working models of the steam era incorporating leamirg with
enjoyment and lo provide an envirc>nrnenl within which miniature locomotives can be conslrucled. maintained
and operated by the public.
Th8 Trustees have paid due regard lo guidance issued by the Charlty Commlssion in deading what actlvilies the
Coleraine and Dislrict Swiety of Model Engineern Should undertake.
Achlevements and performance
A late Easter Monday 2151 April 2025 started the year's summer season as usual. wth a normal season setting
l a further 11 No dates set and then the usual 2N0 Santa Speuals in Decernber The surnmer season al went
well with weather influencing enjoyment al limes. Sant8 Specials were cold as usua5 but for those who braved
the weather, everyone enjoyed themselves with a train nde anLI then arriving al Santa's Halt Io 90 on a visil to the
Grotto and ￿Ceive a present from Sanla himself and a drink of non- alcoholic mulled wine for the older visitors.
Numbers attending throughout the year were slightly up on other pa81 years. resulling in a successtul year fu the
raI￿aY.
The usual school groups and communities, groups visited al the start of the season and all concerned enjoyed
their vislt.
Another TV group visited us for a day lo make a light entertainment quiz programme about knowing facts about
areas and places around the UK. This will feature the railway wlh other allraclions as part ol the quo and is
sd)eduled for transmission earfy 2026. We will gel some publicity from this and every little helps.
Mainlén8nce items were dealt with throughout the sèason w5th track m8inten8nce, replacement of sleepers an(J
Irack re-alignment, being the large part and in the Closed ￿nter months dealing wlh fallen trees and branL*es
due lo thg ex¢eplionally slomy weather which seems lo happening more trequenlly every winter.
Members continue lo operate 00 gauge layouts located in the ￿ar building. extemal track layouts. the bubble
train and with the snow machine al Xmas espeaally popular with the younger visitor. On our Open Days we
conkn.nue lo be able to operate 2N0 steam locos with 2N0 diesels being held in standby and lor animal setup and
tidy up al the end of each open day. Our adult members continue lo enjoy being involved In the railwèy and
operating locomotives on the track. Likewise junior mernber5, those with or wlhout running locos continue lo be
instfuded on the operation of the railway and l¢Jcomotives.
As a club and operating miniature railway. this year we celebrated 50 year5 since our formation 35 years ol
0￿rating the raI￿laY al Damhead. To celebrate this we held events at the Iraek, inviting pasl ftEmbers and
anyone who has helped the club and railway along the way lo mark the occasion. All enjoyed themselves and
here's to the next 50 years.

The financial slalements show a nel surplus of £3.191 in the current year.
The primary source ol income for the company is from membership fees. The members of the company pay
membership lo allow the Company lo operate and develop. The monies received in membership fees afe used lo
pay general operating expenses of Ihe company and are also depended on lo fund the various Open Days which
the company holds.
It 1$ Ihe policy of the Coleraine and District Society of Model Englneers that unreslricled fvnds which have not
been designated for a specific use should be maintained al a level equivalènt lo belwetsn three and gx month's
expenditure The Trustees consider that reserve5 al this level will ensuie that, in the event of a sgnificanl drop in
funding. they will be able lo continue the Coleraine and Di5trid Society of Model Engineers's current activities
while consideration is given to ways in which additsonal funds may be raised. This level ol r8serve5 has been
maintained throughout the year.
The Trustees have assessed the major risks to ￿Tch the Coleraine and Dislrlcl Society of Model Engineers is
exposed, and are 58b'sfied that systems are in place lo miligale ex￿Sure lo the major risks.

The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the Coleraine and District Society of Model
Engineers's goveming document. Ihe Companies Act 20(E and "Accounting and Reporting by Charities".
Stslemenl of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounls in accordance with the
Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland IFRS 1021 leffeclive 1 January
20191" The Coleraine and Dislri¢l Society ol Model Engineers is a Public Benefit Entity as defined by FRS

The Coleraine and District Society of Model Engineers has taken advantage of the provisions in the SORP for

income will be recelved.

based on hislori¢al experience and other factors that are considered lo be relevant. Actual results may differ
