## **Trustees’ Annual Report for the year ended 31 August 2023** 

The trustees present the Annual Report and Statements of Receipts and Payments and Assets and Liabilities for The Cregan Trust for the year ended 31 August 2023. 

## **Structure, Governance and Management** 

The Cregan Trust is an unincorporated entity and is governed by a Deed of Trust dated 10 August 1993. 

The trustees who served during the year and up to the date of signing the financial statements were: 

Mrs GE Cregan Mr SD Patterson 

Trustees are appointed for an indefinite term and serve until they no longer wish to, at which point they may resign. 

The day to day running of the charity is undertaken by the trustees. The trustees do not receive remuneration from the charity. 

## **Objectives and Activities** 

The charitable purpose of The Cregan Trust is to enable local churches to carry out missionary work in the local community and abroad, the purchase of religious material to help educate local children, to aid in the training and education of new ministers/lay people, and to support sick and retired members of the clergy. 

## **Achievements and Performance** 

During the year to 31 August 2023 The Cregan Trust made donations totalling £4,500.  This included 4 larger grants and donations (those of £100 and over), 3 of these being £1,000 or more. 

## **Charities Commissioner of Northern Ireland - Statement of Compliance** 

The Cregan Trust has given careful consideration to the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland’s guidance on public benefit to ensure that the activities entered into during the year have helped to achieve the charity’s objectives and activities, as well as providing public benefit. 

The benefit is defined as: 

“Enabling local churches to carry out missionary work in the local community and abroad, the purchase of religious material to help educate local children, to aid the training and education of new ministries/lay people, and to support sick and retired members of the clergy.”

Financial Review
The accounts show a surplus of £35,500 for the year, all of which was unrestricted in nature.
At the balance sheet date, unrestricted reserves amounted to £100,538 of which all is held at
bank. The trustees have not set a minimum level of reserves to be maintained by the charity
due to the nature of the chartty's activtties and minimal day to day running costs.
Going Concem
The trustees have reviewed the position of the charity and are of the opinion that the charity
will continue in its activities and the accounts should be prepared on a going concern basis.
Statement of Trustees. Responsibilities
The trustees are responsible for preparing the Trustees, Report, the Statement of Receipts
and Payments and the Statement of Assets and Liabilities in accordance with applicable law
and regulations.
The law applicable to those charities in Northem Ireland with income of less than £250,000
requires the trustees to prepare a Statement of Receipts and Payments and a Statement of
Assets and Liabilities for each financial year.
The trustees are responsible for k￿pIng accounting records that are sufficient to show and
explain the charity's transactions and disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the
assets and liabilities of the charity. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of
the charity and hence taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and
other irregularities.
