Chairpersons Report 05/06/2024

It gives me great pleasure to welcome you all here to the 22nd Annual General Meeting of DSG

We continue to support the wider community through our planned events in the local rural area. Throughout the year we applied for funding and supported our community through a range of

events such as:

Kings Coronation Community Lunch

Wreath making workshop at Christmas

Flower Arranging Classes

Senior Citizens Christmas Party

Coffee morning

“Last of the Summer Wine” monthly Community Lunches

Wet Needle Felting Craft class

Fun with Mosaics

Outing to Ulster Folk & Transport Museum, Cultra

Meal in Canavan’s.

We were delighted to enhance our community building with the installation of a Television and a Storage Unit to hold our equipment.

We are pleased that our monthly community lunches are being well supported by the local residents

and provide a vital source of companionship for those who attend. We hope to sustain this in the future.

We were successful in our applications for funding from Dalradian, Fermanagh & Omagh District Council, Omagh Forum for Rural Association and Awards for All.

An inspection by Environmental Health returned our 5* rating and members undertook training in Food Hygiene. We also facilitated Defibrillator training in the hall which was well attended.

We continue to participate in online events and training through Zoom held by Omagh Forum and Fermanagh & Omagh Council.

Our hall is used on a regular basis by Drumnakilly Parish Church, Fox Park Residents Association, Brackey Lodge and Mothers Union. We are also delighted that our young people from the Sunday School use our Hall on a weekly basis. The hall is also available for hire for private functions.

We continue to have an excellent relationship with Fermanagh & Omagh District Council and South West Age Partnership with less money being spread over more organisations we are indebted for their support. We are also grateful to Omagh Forum for their advice and guidance which is gratefully appreciated. Thanks, are also extended to the local church for their continued support. Our purpose is to build social inclusion and we will continue to support the local community through our support at funeral teas and confirmation services and events. We also offer a vital life-line to our local district with the defibrillator installed at the hall.

We are grateful to Audrey who continues to promote events through our Facebook page. In this ever-increasing digital age it is important to communicate and engage with the local community on a digital platform and I hope you will all continue to promote and engage with this as much as possible.

I would like to thank Eddie and Audrey and everyone else involved in the work that goes on in the background with funding applications.

I would like to thank each and every one of you for what has been achieved this would not have been possible without the support of our office holders, and the hardworking committee behind the scenes and I pay tribute to you all.

I would also like to say a big Thank you to the members of the community who have faithfully supported us and to our funders who have been very generous over the past years.

To anyone stepping down from office, I would like to thank you personally for supporting me over the past year and I thank you all for your individual efforts and commitments. Each person has a role to play and those willing to work behind the scenes are invaluable. Your work does not go unnoticed.

To the new committee and office bearers I wish you all the best as you take up your new roles. These are voluntary positions, and you give your time freely. The willingness of people who give

their time, energy and talents is invaluable and without which the group would not exist. With

continued support we can build a community network to enable us to reach out and connect with

others.

We look forward to working together over the next year with enthusiasm and excitement as we plan

our future events.

Thank you.
