## **Chairpersons Report 14/06/2023**

It gives me great pleasure to welcome you all here to the 21st Annual General Meeting of DSG 2010.

We continue to support the wider community through our planned events in the local rural area.

Throughout the year we applied for funding and supported our community through a range of events such as:

Our Platinum Jubilee Street Party Outing to Hillsborough Castle and Gardens Shopping in Lisburn followed by a meal in Quinns Corner Wreath making workshop at Christmas Senior Citizens Christmas Party Coffee morning for 10[th] Anniversary of the Hall Community Lunches Candle Making workshop Needle Felting Craft class

We were successful in our applications for funding from Dalradian, Fermanagh & Omagh District Council, Omagh Forum for Rural Association, Co Operation Ireland and Beth Johnston Foundation.

We continue to participate in online events and training through Zoom held by Omagh Forum and Fermanagh & Omagh Council.

Our hall is used on a regular basis by Drumnakilly Parish Church, Fox Park Residents Association, Brackey Lodge and Mothers Union. We were also delighted to welcome back our young people to Sunday School which re opened following a 3 year break due to the Covid pandemic. The hall is also available for hire for private functions.

We continue to have an excellent relationship with Fermanagh & Omagh District Council with less money being spread over more organisations and we are indebted for their support. We are also grateful to Omagh Forum for their advice and guidance which is gratefully appreciated. Thanks, are also extended to the local church for their continued support.

Our purpose is to build social inclusion and we will continue to support the local community through our support at funeral teas and confirmation services and events. We also offer a vital life-line to our local district with the defibrillator installed at the hall for which we have recently replaced the defibrillator pads.

In this ever increasing digital age we have also extended our communications by setting up a facebook page which I hope you will all engage with and promote as much as possible. Thank you Audrey for your technical expertise in setting this up.

I would like to thank Eddie, Audrey and Julie and everyone else involved in the work that goes on in the background with funding applications.

I would like to thank each and every one of you for what has been achieved this would not have been possible without the support of our office holders, and the hardworking committee behind the scenes and I pay tribute to you all.

I would also like to say a big Thank you to the members of the community who have faithfully supported us and to our funders who have been very generous over the past years.

On behalf of the group I would like to extend our sincere and heartfelt condolences to the families of Stanley McCausland, a former founding member of the group and Margaret Donaghey, a serving committee member, who both sadly passed away. We pay Tribute to their dedication, hard work, length of service and most of all their friendship. Their memories will live on in the work that we continue to do.

To anyone stepping down from office, I would like to thank you personally for supporting me over the past year and I thank you all for your individual efforts and commitments. Each person has a role to play and those willing to work behind the scenes are invaluable. Your work does not go unnoticed.

To the new committee and office bearers I wish you all the best as you take up your new roles. These are voluntary positions, and you give your time freely. The willingness of people who give their time, energy and talents is invaluable and without which the group would not exist. With continued support we can build a community network to enable us to reach out and connect with others.

We look forward to working together over the next year with enthusiasm and excitement as we plan our next our future events.

Thank you.
