HISTORY
Islandmagee Playaway Playgroup is a registered charity and is a playgroup situated
in Islandmagee. We have been established on the Island for around 41 years and
carry out preschool education for the children of the area. We are a cross-community
organisation, with five members of staff and are run by a parents, management
committee consisting of parents both past and present who are responsible for the
overall decisions and governing of the playgroup. Playgroup is governed by a constitution
and has policies and procedures in pla￿ as per regulations. We are registered for 26
children be￿een the ages of 2 years, 10 months to 4 years old for 5 mornings per
week term time. We are based in Islandmagee Community Centre.
AIMS
Islandmagee Playaway Playgroup aims to educate the local preschool children in all
areas of learning as instructed by the Department of Education, Northern Ireland. We
provide activities through which the children achieve their learning objectives through
play. We provide activities such as waterlsand play, jigsaws, painting, play dough, arts
and crafts, role-play, storytelling, music, and outdoor play. We aim to ensure that all
children can access and achieve their learning requirements over the year before the
start of primary school. Our admissions policy states that we welcome all families from
the community irrespective of their social class, religion, race, culture, disability, or
special needs. We are annually inspected by Health and Social Care Trust, and
Environmental Healthto ensure we meet all relevant standards. We have an Early
Years advisor who helps keep us up to date. We are also inspected by the Education
Authority which is available for the public to view.
Financial position
The report covers the period up until 31 st August 2022. We receive monthly deposits
from theEducation Authority for each preschool child in attendan￿. This pays for staff
salaries and rent for the hall. We also re￿iVed several grants this year due to various
funds. We carry out internal fundraising activities which are organised by the Parents
Committee. The trustees are grateful to all the parents both past and present for their
efforts in helping raise valuable funds and resources. The years 2021 to 2022
Islandmagee Playaway Playgroup showed a profit of £ 3,716.00 and this will be
reinvested back into the playgroup to buy new and additional resources.

preschool education for the area's children. We are a cross-community organisation, with five
members of staff and are run by a parent's management committee consisting of parents both
past and present who are responsible for the overall decisions and governing of the playgroup.
