The Trustees present the Annual Report and Slatements of Receipts and Payment8 and
Assets and Liabilities for Derryhirk Rural Development Assoclatlon for the year ended 31
March 2023.
Structure, Governance and Management
Derryhlrk Rural Development Association is an unincorporated association. The Assoclatlon
was formed on 8 June 2004 and its governing instrument is its constitution.
The Association is adminlstered by its officers who, for the purposes of charity law, are
Trustees. Officers are sought according to the needs of the charity. The officers are assisted
In the running of the charity by a committee consisting of a minimum of five members.

The objects of the Association are..
To advance through education the skllls and knowledge of th8 Inhabltant8 of thé area ol
benefit.
To facilitat8 the greater Involvement of marglnall88d sectlons of the communlty, In
particular women and girts, young people, the dlsabled and the elderly In the Ilfe of the
communlty;
To promote awareness of the history, folklore and cultural herltage of the area;
To encourage acceptance, under8landlng and appreclallon of the cultural diversity of the
area of benefit".
To promot8, by education and encounter, good community relallons wllh other groups
and cultural traditions and to interact with same In a spirit of peace and community
reconciliation.
Achl•v•m•nts and P•rfomianc•
During the 2022-23 year, activities of Derryhirk Rural Development Association were affected
by the aftermath of the Covid-19 pandemic. Like many other community organlsatlons, we
faced challenges resuming activitie8. Gift8 were made in place of the annual dinner for senlor
citizens and the only event during the year was a vi81t to the Mu8eum of Orange Heritage a8
part of the Platinum Jubilee celebralions.
We were Successful in obtaining a grant for our running co8t8 from ABC councll vla Ihe
Flnancial Assistance Programme, which greatly helped to cover our costs.

Derryhirk Rural Development Assoclation has given careful consideration to the Charity
commission for Northem Ireland's guidance on public benefit to ensure that the activities
entered into help to achieve the charity's objectives and activities, as well as providing public
benefit.
The benefit is defined as:
The empowerment of the local community to Improve their living condltlon8 and
environment.
Provision of a more stable, safer neighbourhood by developing strong, posltive relations
between different people within the community.
Improved health and wellbeing for the local community.
Increased education and skills for participants.
Increase social interaction and inclusion with other members of the local community.
Access to further training and employment opportunities.
The building of positive community relations at a local level and the development of
more inclusive civic and cultural identity.
Provision of opportunities for the local communty to explore thelr culturo, hlstory and
Identity,
The charity's beneficiaries are mainly (but not restricted to) inhabitants of the local area,
including areas of Derycorry, Derryhirk, Annaghmore, Tullyro8n, Moy and Loughgall and to
those vi8iting the area.
Flnanclal Revlow
The account8 show a deficit of £183 for the year (unreslrlcted deficlt of £305, restricted surplus
of £122).
The accumulated funds (unrestricted and restricted) at the year end stand at £17.559. Total
unrestricted funds amounted to £4.634 (of which £4,194 relate to fixed assets and £440 to
cash funds). Total restricted funds amounted to £12,925 (of which £12,735 relate to fixed
assets and £190 to cash funds).
The Trustees have not set a minimum level of reserves to be maintained by the charity due to
the nature of the charity's activities and minimal day to day running costs.
Golng Concern
The Trustees have reviewed the p08ilion of the charity and are of the opinion that Ihe charlty
will continue in its activities and the accounts should be prepared on a going concern basis.

Statement of Trustees, Responslbllltles
The Trustees are responsible for preparing the Trustees, Report, the Statement of Receipts
and Payments and the Statement of Assets and Liabilities in accordance with applicable law
and regulations,
The law applicable to those charities in Northern Ireland wilh income of less than £250,000
requires the Trustees to prepare a Statement of Receipts and Payments and a Statement of
Assets and Liabilities for each financial year.
The Trustees are responsible for keeping accounting records that are sufficient to show and
explain the charity's transactions and disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the assets
and liabilities of the charity, They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the
charity and hence taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other
irregularities.
